Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday and it is my husband’s as well.

The planning and build-up until we get on the road and arrive at our favorite mountain community.

We love the solitude of being up in the mountains, among the vibrant colors of giant trees.

Thanksgiving symbolizes the official start of the holiday season which comes and goes quickly in the blink of an eye; we, therefore, appreciate slowing things down to enjoy some much-needed downtime.  Relaxing to a roar of a warm fire in the morning, while sipping on a hot cup of joe, and listening to our favorite tunes…is truly magical, almost heavenly.

What are some of your treasured Thanksgiving traditions?  Ours include making ice cream to go with our freshly baked pie.  Though this year, in the frenzy of packing, we left our home sans our ice cream machine; it is a bummer but it’s all part of the adventure so we just roll with it.  An trip to the local market is in our very near future to pick up a quart of HaggenDazs and whatever other impulse buys we can get our hands on.  We’ll have to wait until we get home to make the Cranberry ice cream.  Nothing is perfect and that is the beauty of being in the moment and not focusing on the things that do not go according to plan.  I’m just grateful we had a wonderful commute and a safe journey up the mountain. Whether you celebrate Thanksgiving surrounded by a large family or observe it with just a handful, we wish you a day full of gratitude among your loved ones.
