The Hochgebirge Ski Club organizes the annual Hochgebirge Challenge Cup, first held in the winter of 1931. The 85th Anniversary Hochgebridge Challenge Cup was held at Mittersill, Cannon Mountain, NH this past January. It is the oldest continuously run alpine ski race in North America and perhaps the world!

The “Ragged Edges” female team consisting of Melissa Lombard, Renelle L ‘Hullier, Margaret Vaughn and Sara Godek won the Trophy for the fastest women’s team !!!!

Congratulations to this group of fast talented ladies that are all enrolled in our Tuesday’s Master Class!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

Ragged Mountain first opened in January 1965 with a Hall Double Chair and T-Bar surface lift. The first winter saw minimal snow and less-than-ideal conditions, let’s just say the first winter was a bit “Ragged!” Since then, we’ve come a long way. From expanding terrain and adding Spear Peak to becoming the first New England mountain with a high-speed 6-pack chairlift. More recently, named ‘The best overall value in New England’, by NESJ. Ragged has certainly had its ups and downs over the years, but the future is looking brighter than ever!

Six decades of skiing, snowboarding, and unforgettable memories is a major milestone, especially for an independent mountain. Come celebrate sixty years with us the only way we know how - an epic birthday bash! Mark your calendars for March 21-23 and get ready for a party all weekend long!

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Wyatt Carleton, a valued member of the Ragged Mountain community. Wyatt tragically passed away in a car accident on Sunday, January 12th, off Currier Road in Andover.

Wyatt was a dedicated employee in our Food and Beverage department. The resort’s General Manager, Erik Barnes, expressed his condolences, “Wyatt played a vital role as an employee, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and close friends.”

Wyatt’s passion for skiing began during his time at Ragged, where he participated in the Andover Ski Program. In lieu of flowers, Wyatt’s parents have requested donations to the Andover Ski Program in his memory. To honor Wyatt, Ragged Mountain is establishing a scholarship in his name through the Andover Ski Program. In kind donations can be sent to the ‘Town of Andover’ at PO Box 61, Andover, NH 03216. Please ensure that the memo indicates that the donation is in memory of Wyatt Carleton and should be directed to the Recreational Department.

A candlelight vigil will be held tomorrow, January 16th, from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Merrimack Valley High School, located between SAU and the Track and Field facility. We extend our deepest sympathies to Wyatt’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Flying Yankee opens tomorrow!

Did you know where the trails name derives from? The Flying Yankee is a diesel-electric streamliner passenger train built in 1935 for the Boston and Maine Railroad by Budd Company. It was the third streamliner train in North America and ran between Bangor, ME, and Boston, MA, making stops in Danbury, NH.

Snowmaking will take flight tomorrow afternoon on Showboat as temps drop below freezing and continue for the foreseeable future. We now have all 5 lifts accessing 20 trails and 98 acres of terrain!
