Glen Magna Farms is a magnificent Colonial Revival Mansion nestled on eleven lush acres of a country
(63)
The Mansion at Glen Magna Farms, set on an estate of eleven acres, has been described “as near to heaven as one can be in this world.” Located less than one mile from Routes 1 and 95. An ideal location for weddings, private parties, corporate meetings, photo shoots and other special events. Glen Magna can accommodate from 50 to 125 guests in the mansion & up to 200 outside with tenting. The award-
winning landscape includes formal gardens massed with colorful perennials, annuals, shrubbery and an arboretum. The Old Fashioned Garden is anchored by a reproduction of the original Gazebo designed by Francis Peabody in 1840. A wisteria-covered pergola transports guests towards the Derby Summer House, a National Historic Landmark, and into the Rose Garden which blooms in early summer with hundreds of heirloom roses. Classical statuary, fountains, sweeping lawns and winding pathways further enhance the exquisitely restored and manicured grounds.

Dear Plant Sale Patrons and New Guests,
Welcome back to Glen Magna Farms Back to Nature Plant Sale. This year will be special with an array of perennials field dug from the historic gardens of Glen Magna Farms. Last fall, our gardeners patiently divided and potted 100s of plants for you to bring home and enjoy in your garden. We will also be offering many low maintenance, New England native plants to make your home sustainable all while helping our declining butterfly and bird populations.
We also invite you to stroll the enchanted 11 acres of garden rooms of Glen Magna Farms before or after you shop. Let the winding paths and majestic trees inspire you to make your corner of the earth a little greener. Lastly, the garden crew will be participating in “No Mow May” for the 4th year in a row. A nice way to think positive about the recent April snowfall.
“Poor Man’s Fertilizer” is an expression to describe an early spring snow, and there’s actual science behind it!
“Snow and other forms of precipitation contain nutrients such as nitrogen and sulfur. If the ground isn’t frozen or saturated, these nutrients can be absorbed into the soil.”
https://www.woodstockhistorycenter.org/articles/2021/4/22/snow-poor-mans-fertilizer
Let’s hope this snow makes everything “pop” next week! 🌷🌷🌷🌷☀️☀️☀️☀️

What is “No Mow May”? No Mow May is a horticultural practice where you pledge not to mow an area of your lawn for the entire month of May. The gardening staff at Glen Maga Farms takes pride in the many sustainable gardening practices that we implement on the property. Since 2020, the gardening staff only mows the priority areas of the Glen Magna Farms for the month of May. The majority of the property is left alone until early June.
We invite you to witness the beautiful results of “No Mow May” before we start our regularly scheduled mowing practice in early June. The gardening staff has kindly mowed paths throughout the back edges of our property for your walking convenience. It’s fun to see how many wildflowers and birds you can spot in these areas. This season we have had an eruption of spring wildflowers. Trilliums, wild strawberry, sedges and buttercups are in full bloom. We also have had many bird sightings, including orioles, song sparrows, phoebes and the fascinating scarlet tanager. Additionally, we have witnessed blue birds nesting in our apple orchard this spring. Thank you for enjoying the beauty of Glen Magna Farms, a property of the Danvers Historical Society.
Sincerely,
Matthew Martin Restoration Manager
