Darlington Rescue Squad Foundation Acquires Darlington Farmer’s Market
Darlington, SC — The Darlington Rescue Squad Foundation is thrilled to announce its acquisition of the Darlington Farmer’s Market. This new endeavor underscores our commitment to serving the community in innovative and impactful ways.
Earlier this year, the Darlington Rescue Squad made the difficult decision to cease ambulance operations due to challenges in volunteer availability and operational costs. Since then, we have focused on supporting our community through charitable donations and events, including hosting the annual Darlington Christmas Parade. Now, we are excited to expand our efforts by ensuring the Darlington Farmer’s Market remains a vibrant hub for our town.
To lead this initiative, we are proud to welcome Candace Gleason as the new Market Director. A lifelong Darlington resident, Candace brings a wealth of experience and passion to this role. Her impressive background includes decades of service as a paramedic, culinary expertise as a trained chef and former restaurant owner, and her current role as an integral part of Gleason Farms. Candace’s vision, combined with the Board of Directors’ goals, will ensure the Market thrives and evolves in the years to come.
The transition of ownership will begin on January 1, 2025, and we are eager to embark on this new chapter. The Darlington Farmer’s Market is more than a place to shop—it’s a community gathering space, and we can’t wait to see you there.
The Darlington Farmers Market will continue to operate every Thursday from 3 PM to 7 PM at the Market on Pearl, located at 103 Pearl Street, Darlington. This is a great opportunity to support local farmers and artisans while enjoying fresh produce and goods.
