The vibrant sounds of jazz filled the Ada Jenkins gymnasium on April 25, 2025. M@SA hosted the well-known jazz musician Lovell Bradford for the school’s enrichment program. Mr. Bradford, who is an adjunct professor of piano at Davidson College and his six accomplished jazz students entertained over sixty LEARN Works K-5th grade students. The young jazz students demonstrated the unique sounds of each of their instruments, including a double bass, alto saxophone, guitar, trumpet, flute, keyboard and drums. As the students performed well known jazz compositions, Mr. Bradford talked to the young LEARN Works students about the history of jazz, the various types of jazz and the jazz icons.
