Coming soon to the News-Journal Center!

On Golden Pond is the inspiring story of Ethel and Norman Thayer returning to their summer cottage in Maine during their twilight years. The play’s storyline features the triumph of love over discord. When their estranged daughter Chelsea brings her fiancé and his teenaged son Billy Ray Jr. to visit, a chance for redemption emerges between Chelsea and her parents. When the boy is left with the older couple, Norman finds new purpose in the simple task of teaching young Billy Ray to fish. It turns out to be just what they both needed. Will this be the Thayers’ last summer On Golden Pond? The 1979 Broadway production captured a Tony for Best Actress and the Drama Desk Award for Best New Play. The 2005 Broadway revival earned the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play. The 1981 film starring Henry Fonda and Katherine Hepburn was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won three.

Music Production Technology professor Scott Velazco has made it to the quarterfinals for the 2026 GRAMMY Music Educator Award. He is one of just 200 music teachers from across the country being recognized for making a lasting impact on students and music education.

The award celebrates standout educators from kindergarten through college who go above and beyond to keep music alive in schools. Finalists will be announced in the coming months, and the winner will be honored in Los Angeles during GRAMMY Week 2026 next January.

Halifax Repertory Theatre is thrilled to announce auditions for their 2025 Summer production of Guys & Dolls!✨

Guys & Dolls will be performed at The News-Journal Center in Daytona Beach, FL. July 25-Aug. 3, 2025.

🎭 Audition Details:

🗓️Video Auditions (virtual): May 1- May 27th (6pm deadline- Eastern Daylight Time)

🎤 🕺In person Callbacks (by invitation only): Dance, Thurs. 5/29, 7:30-9:30pm, Acting/Singing, Sat. 5/31, 10:30 am-12:30 pm, at HRT Studio, 615 S Yonge Street, Ormond Beach, FL
