Since its inception, The Floral Boutique has been unique in its farm-direct approach to floral artistry. We strongly appreciate the farmers who grow the products we sell and view our farmer suppliers as partners in our ability to deliver consistently amazing products to our customers.
As a child, our owner, Jennifer Strickland, grew up on a family farm here in West Volusia where the primary product is floral greenery. She is now the second generation in that business and has high hopes a third generation will join in the future. The long days and busy weekends her dad spent on the farm when she was growing up taught her the true value of floral farmers. The greenery, stems and blossoms which bring joy and comfort in times of celebration, love and sympathy are products of lots of planning, hope, and hard work.
With the family history of floral farming in mind, The Floral Boutique adheres to a core set of principles when sourcing fresh products for the store. Under these principles, we look for fresh greens, stems and blossoms which are, in order of preference:
Locally grown in Volusia County by neighbors with whom we go to school, church and the voting booth.
Grown by a family owned/operated farm in the state of Florida.
Grown by a coop owned/operated farm in the state of Florida.
Grown by a family owned/operated farm in the surrounding southeast region.
Grown by a family owned/operated farm in the USA.
Grown by a family owned/operated farm in North America.
Grown by an American owned farm in North America.
Grown by an American controlled farm outside of North America.
Grown by a fair trade or certified sustainable practice farm outside of North America.
Grown by a grower outside of North America who we have independently verified as using industry best practices.
Our farm-direct relationships make The Floral Boutique different in a few ways. The most important of those are:
Our fresh selection may not always match that of nationally branded florists in the area. They’re using whatever the big brands tell them to stock.
We will only sell the fresh products we believe deliver a great value and our garden chic style to our customers. We don’t sell cheap filler or old flowers we got off the back of a truck.
Our floral selection will vary seasonally based on what’s available in the market.
We use more greenery and more flower stems in our arrangements!
About using more greenery and more flower stems... Because we buy farm-direct, our “fill value” (an industry term for what goes in the vase) is always higher than competing branded florists. Unless the design calls for otherwise, we start our arrangements with a lush base of locally grown greenery. This denser base of greenery will yield a longer lasting floral arrangement and one which has more visual impact compared to a bare-stem flower arrangement.
All these things add up to a simple phrase... At The Floral Boutique, our flowers really DO make the difference!
