The Board of the Honest Brook Music Festival has given thought to the upcoming 2021 season and we plan to have a season—if conditions allow, of course. All the musicians who were engaged for the summer 2020 season have agreed to perform in 2021. As you have come to expect, the Festival will be presenting some of the finest young artists, all of whom are eager to perform after a year of dark concert halls.

Celebrating Thanksgiving is very different this year because of the pandemic. But Giving Tuesday is still December 1. This official day of philanthropy is intended to help counterbalance the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

As with many venues in cities and small communities, ticket sales do not cover the cost of bringing music to you. And so, if your circumstances allow, we hope you will make a generous donation now to support the Festival. You may go to www.hbmf.org/giving to print a donation form. Please include it with your check and mail to HBMF, Box 309, Delhi, NY 13753.

You may also support us by registering HBMF as your preferred charity at http://smile.amazon.com, which results in a donation from Amazon with many selected Amazon purchases.

Shop at smile.amazon.com and we’ll donate 0.5% of eligible purchases to your favorite charitable organization—no fees, no extra cost.

Origins of the Honest Brook Music Festival

Michael Cannon, a concert pianist, and the late Christopher Desler, a designer, purchased the P**a Farm on Honest Brook Road in Meredith, New York, in August of 1987. They wanted a weekend refuge, far away from the hectic pace of life in New York City. During their first year, Mable P**a, from whom they purchased the farm, regaled them with stories of her late husband, Henry, singing in the barn and lamenting what would happen to their beloved dairy barn. Seeing many other old barns in Delaware County deteriorating from lack of use, Cannon and Desler were determined to find a purpose for their own barn.

And so in 1989 they founded the Honest Brook Music Festival, a registered, 501C-3 non-profit, committed to presenting concerts by outstanding young musicians and well-known artists. The Festival’s Summer Series is held in their preserved dairy barn amid the idyllic rolling hills of the Western Catskills. Adjacent to the barn, they have created beautiful perennial gardens that welcome concert-goers before performances and during intermissions, when refreshments are served.

Our artists often take the time during their performance to give a brief background on the music they are about to present. And at the conclusion of all performances our artists enjoy greeting and speaking with concert goers who are interested in learning more about the performers’ careers and the program they just heard.

Over the years, The Honest Brook Music Festival has had the pleasure of presenting many young musicians just coming into their own professionally, as well as many well-established artists. We hope that you will check back for our next summer concert series, and please join us to enjoy music in these stunning mountains.
