Thx for letting me help make your sweet boys day special!

Funny (not so funny) story. When I got out of the car I noticed it was pretty windy. I slowly opened my trunk (I hate that XTerra trunks open upward) and before I could get the trunk even halfway open, the wind SUCKED this arrangement out and it went airborne across the parking lot! I started chasing it, watching it literally cartwheel across cars and finally wedge itself between a truck and a very dirty snowbank 😩

One popped balloon (thankfully only a small decorative one that wasn’t part of the main structure) and some dirty snow, but otherwise intact. A little by to the rescue and the snow splotches we’re gone!

Moral of the story: ALWAYS use a balloon bag. Even for small arrangements.

I couldn’t resist making one for my own little darling. When this Elf craze began my son was a bit too old and we already had traditions in place. Introducing another tradition just didn’t seem right. Over the past decade + I’ve watched my friends with littles tirelessly move the elf, come up with fun ideas and crazy antics for these little creatures to engage in, but I secretly thought I’d dodged a bullet!! Seemed like too much work!!

But here I am with this precious little girl who sees magic in literally everything and this tradition just feels right for her!

So meet McKayla the Elf. She arrived sometime last night in her protective balloon cocoon straight from the North Pole.

We can’t wait to see what she gets herself into!! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Some of you may know my day job is as a 7th grade (middle school) Social Studies teacher extraordinaire….and I happen to work at THE best middle school in Denver, so when the 8th grade team asked me to create a fun welcome for students, parents and guest judges I was more than excited! Not only did I get to style the lobby with a patriotic balloon welcome, but I also get to appear as a guest judge for mock congressional hearings tomorrow and I can NOT wait to see my former students in action! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

This time last year I was spending my Sundays driving all over Park Hill and Central Park “prize bombing” my 7th grade students who were all learning remotely due to the pandemic. Birthday balloons for birthday bombs and water bottle stickers for those who won the weekly prize. It was with a car full of gorgeous chrome colored balloons that I realized how much I love spreading happiness (and how much I love my students).

I’m Amy, full time middle school teacher, finding my creative outlet and spreading joy through balloon styling. Welcome to my “side hustle”.
