Today is my mama’s heavenly birthday 🕊️🪻

A few months ago, I shared how I receive signs from her during every session and wedding I photograph. The response was overwhelming—so many of you sent DMs sharing your own signs and experiences. It was such a beautiful reminder that these little moments connect us in ways we can’t always explain.

For me, the sign is almost always a hummingbird—but I’ve received others too! And with my brain usually multitasking 5-10 things during a wedding day 😂, these signs have a way of stopping me in my tracks. They make me pause, take a breath, and truly be in the moment.

Signs can be hard to explain in a caption—it’s one of those “if you know, you know” things. But if this resonates with you, my inbox is always open 💌

These images were from a styled shoot. While everyone else was photographing the couple in a field nearby, something about this ceremony spot kept pulling me in. At first, I thought it was just my ADHD doing its thing 😂 But after capturing the second photo, I zoomed in on my camera screen—only to find a tiny hummingbird nestled among the flowers 🥰

Waited to share this session because it felt perfect for the holidays and NYE! 🪩 Loving this glamorous session along the canals with the coolest little fam!

Went a little MIA to enjoy the holidays back in Michigan with my family. Got back early enough to enjoy a few more slow days before I hop back into things. And I will probably be in bed with my pups and husband by 10pm tonight 😂 Honestly, that’s the only way I’d want to ring in the new year!

A Rocky Mountain Proposal 💍

Last month, we took my sister and her husband to RMNP for the first time. We started off by hiking to Dream and Emerald Lakes. At Emerald Lake, the chipmunks were surprisingly bold—they weren’t afraid of us at all! If anything, I was scared of them and spent half my time trying to keep them out of my backpack and away from my snacks 😂

Our final stop was Lake Haiyaha. After climbing over boulders, we found a spot right along the lake to relax before making the trek back. I hadn’t even sat down yet when my sister and my husband both started urgently whispering, “Caitlin! Caitlin!” At first, all I could think was, “I am DONE with the chipmunks!” But I quickly realized I was witnessing a proposal happen in real time.

If you know me, you know I always have my camera with me. I immediately grabbed it and managed to capture the last few moments of the proposal.

My brother-in-law helped me climb down some boulders so I could reach the newly engaged couple. Marisa and Chris were so excited to hear that I’m a wedding photographer! I was able to take a few more pictures for them and document a little piece of their trip to Colorado, ending with this unforgettable moment.
