Kelcie & Dawson’s elopement was a wet one but that’s Colorado for ya! The weather can change at any moment but these two embraced it all. It rained on us the entire time. We were cold and muddy but all was masked by the many smiles and all the love surrounding us. (Im just inserting myself into their relationship..okay?! 😂)

The weather might have been weathering when they eloped but they embraced it all. They didn’t have to worry about other stressors of a traditional wedding and were able to enjoy an intimate and authentic experience.

First Looks - Yay or Nay?!

Almost every wedding I shoot now has a first look with their partner included in their timeline. Some love it! While others opt for the more traditional route. Here’s some pros and cons to including a first look into your timeline:

PROS:
✨ Offers a private and intimate moment with your partner away from the eyes of your guests
✨ Can help calm pre-wedding jitters
✨ More time to take portraits with your partner in a quiet environment
✨ Can offer more time with your guests once ceremony ends and reception begins

CONS:
🫶🏼 Breaks the old tradition of seeing each other for the first time at the altar
🫶🏼 Can lessen the emotional response while walking down the aisle
🫶🏼 Could require an earlier start and more coverage by adding another moment into the timeline

Let’s talk Adventure Sessions ✨

Adventure (or Bridal) Sessions are perfect for those:

• Wanting a more relaxed timeline
• Already married and celebrating an anniversary
• Already married and wanting to escape to the mountains without the bridal crew or family
• Wanting to get wedding photos with their dog(s) or pets

Most of the couples I connect with are choosing Colorado because of the beautiful scenery so put your dress back on and let’s head deep into the mountains! 🏔️

I met Ashley at a Pilates studio I was teaching at in Houston so when she slid in my dm’s last year I was so excited to connect again! Her family had a vacation planned in Estes Park and we were able to spend a perfect evening inside RMNP 🏔️

If you have a family gathering coming up, this is the perfect time to reach out and book a family session! Life goes by so quickly! Make those memories and capture them so you have something to hold onto 📸🤍

Our Wedding (probably part 1 😂)

I officially got hitched on April 24th and we’re still taking it all in from our time in Scotland.

1000000/10 recommend building out your day how you and your partner want. We knew some family members wanted to come celebrate with us, but knew we might be too adventurous than what they’re used to. We started planning an entire wedding in Edinburgh in hopes it felt better for our family but ultimately it never felt right for us. We scrapped that plan and kept telling ourselves “if they can make it then great, if not we understand”

We planned our dream day on Skye and it was everything we hoped for and more! And the best part - every single family member ended up making the trek to celebrate us as well!

Do what feels right for you and your partner, but most importantly do what makes you two feel most alive. Your loved ones will show up for you no matter what. And the love will truly shine through on your special day 🤍

Happy Valentines Day to all my lovers and friends 🫶🏼

The last picture always makes me laugh 😂 I love a mixture of slightly posed and candid shots. I try to offer guidance or small adjustments that still feel comfortable for you, like relax your shoulders a bit, soften your hand grip….welllll when Lauren and Brendan were hugging I told her to tuck her hands into his pocket and she went for his front pockets 😂 we both realized what she did and laughed it off but that’s when a few of these candid shots were captured 🙃 so I’d say it’s a win!

I love every moment of a wedding. The exciting nerves, little bouts of chaos, the quiet moments where I catch someone taking it all in, the laughter echoing through the venue. Everything. I feel like I’m witnessing an authentic rom com in real time. 😍 But nothing beats the raw and intimate moments with your partner. I always try to give space and let my couples enjoy these moments but the second I see a tear I know I’m about to shed one too 😂
