BPIR WOMEN'S MONTH CELEBRATING DENISE TYUS

Denise Tyus is a dynamic and multifaceted woman who wears many hats with grace and determination. She is not only a dedicated rodeo competitor but also a wife, mother, grandmother, and the Production Manager for BPIR—all while holding a managerial role operations at Tyson Foods. And if that weren’t impressive enough, she’s also a basketball referee!

Despite the daily challenges she juggles, Denise embodies a PUSH-forward mentality, inspiring everyone around her to persevere. Even after undergoing a second knee replacement on November 20, 2024—forcing her to sit out part of the basketball season and miss a few rodeos—her resilience, hard work, and unwavering dedication never wavered.

Her efforts paid off in a historic way. Denise was selected to officiate the 2025 NAIA Women’s HBCU Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, making history as part of the first ALL-female semi-finals officiating crew. But she didn’t stop there—she and Stacy Moultrie were also chosen to officiate the NAIA Women’s HBCU Athletic Conference Championship game, marking yet another groundbreaking moment in her career.

A huge congratulations to Denise for continuing to make history! As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we honor her incredible achievements and the inspiring example she sets for us all.

We still need your help. Please take a moment and let the LA City Council know that you object to eliminating rodeos in LA.

Please, please, we need as many responses as possible because the other side has a couple of people who respond every week. Please take the time to respond.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗥𝗢𝗗𝗘𝗢 𝗜𝗡 𝗟.𝗔. 𝗜𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥

For four years, Western Justice has fought to save rodeo in Los Angeles. So far, our Western Sports Industry Coalition (WSIC) has succeeded in keeping the proposed ban from being enacted. Nevertheless, our work is not finished. The ordinance is not dead, but is indefinitely postponed due to more pressing current issues in Los Angeles.

We don’t know exactly when the ordinance will be brought back before the City Council for a vote, but we are still hard at work. Since its beginning, WSIC has had weekly informational and strategy-building calls, and most recently, has also been engaging and educating newly elected Council members.

This is only one aspect of our campaign. Public input plays a pivotal role in the ultimate outcome. 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇.𝘼. 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙡 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙤 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙑𝙀𝙍𝙔 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩. Even if you have commented before, it is imperative to do it again, and again. There are several animal rights activists that submit comments weekly, and even though their side is certainly not the majority, their repeated comments count as part of the total number in favor of the ban.

With thousands of rodeo competitors, supporters, and fans across the country, comments against the ban should easily outnumber those in favor.
