8X World Champion Joe Beaver interviewed 8X World Champion Fred Whitfield for us at Joe's ranch near Huntsville, Texas. And what we discovered that day is how much these guys were willing to practice to reach the level they did in professional rodeo. The hours and hours and hours they put in the practice pen was astronomical. And then the discussion turned to how they won the mental game. How they got the competitive advantage. And that was even more interesting. We concluded that anyone who ever picked up or wanted to pick up a rope should watch that episode.

When you think of Prairie View, Texas cowboy Cory Solomon you can imagine closets full of green shirts. Kind of like the Wright boys who must have closets being full of blue shirts.
The fact is that it represents a consistency that both Cory and the Wright boys have in their performances in the rodeo arena. And the pleasure they give us in watching them.
Of course, Cory has qualified for the National Finals Rodeo 10 times. And that's more proof of his consistency.
Meanwhile, Cory's father, Larry, runs the farm at Prairie View A&M University (his alma mater), and his mother, Caralita, also works in the agriculture department at the same school.
Cory has has two older brothers, Kenneth and Lawrence, who are also PRCA ropers and they learned how to rope from their dad, who competed in amateur rodeos. And Cory actually started roping when he was 4 years old and has been consistent ever since.
