Bas Bleu Theatre Company is thrilled to announce the third mainstage production of its 32nd Season, Horton Foote's The Trip To Bountiful, a classic American play about a extraordinary journey home, Directed by Miners Alley Associate Artistic Director Warren Sherrill, and featuring Bas Bleu Founder and Artistic Director Wendy Ishii.
Elderly Carrie Watts (Wendy Ishii) dreams of escape from the bustling city and of a return to simpler times in her beloved Bountiful, Texas. When at last her opportunity to slip away arrives, she sets out on a risky pilgrimage, with her protective son Ludie (Mark Collins) and her authoritarian daughter-in-law Jessie Mae (Blair Carpenter) in hot pursuit. Carrie escapes to the bus station and befriends a young woman named Thelma (Elizabeth Larson). As the new friends travel toward Bountiful they encounter unexpected instances of kindness and compassion, and make a remarkable discovery about the true meaning of home.
Come bask at Bas Bleu in the warm light of 1953 East Texas for a trip well worth taking, a gentle drama of hopes and dreams, lovely and truthful.
The Trip To Bountiful will be presented February 28th through March 23rd. Performances begin on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and at 2:30 p.m. for the Sunday matinees.
The lobby opens half an hour before curtain. Concessions, non-alcoholic beverages, beer and wine are available for purchase to enjoy beforehand or during the performance. We ID all alcohol sales.
