Last week I photographed Hannah + Michaelās elopement, and Iām still thinking about it. When Hannah inquired about their elopement, she already had the perfect vision in mind. They wanted to hike at sunrise, share their vows, a first dance, and have a picnic before hiking back.
Hannah and Michael donāt use social media, so they reminded me, āYou donāt have to worry about getting any social media worthy pictures. We just want our authentic experience captured.ā When they said those words, my shoulders relaxed, I took a deep breath, and was able to see their elopement completely different.
If Iām being honest, the longer Iām on social media, the more I despise it. It feels like everyone is selling something, fighting for perfection over authenticity, and itās hard to stand out in a crowd like that. Iāve been quiet for a few months, rarely posting, and simply just experiencing life without sharing it. Honestly, Iāve just been sitting in the hammock in our yard and staring up at the sky. Itās quiet there. No more noise, hustle, or seeking validation from the world around me.
Let this be your reminder that lifeās greatest moments arenāt happening here on social media. Theyāre happening when no one is watching and youāre completely present in the world around you.
Hereās to less social media worthy photos, more authentic, one of a kind wedding day experiences for just you two.
