The evening of Sept 27th and October 18th, and the morning of September 28th and October 19th!!

my goal for 2024 was to re-discover a healthy balance with my business, and work/life balance; to reignite the fire through simply making it my own again, and not overworking myself.

this year, i find that i have soooo much fun with my clients, my sessions, and the projects ive worked on - i have associates who love this thing as much as i do, and i just simply love this business of mine 🥹

my top piece of advice for any couple on their wedding day is to remember to schedule pockets of time for just the two of you. even if it means skipping a receiving line after the ceremony, or any of those other traditions….it is about you two after all, right??

my theme for the year is slow down.

as a business owner, that’s scary. but for someone who constantly is telling my clients to slow down and enjoy these moments, i continually find myself not prioritizing that in my own life.

so this year, i’ll slow down.

slow down and get to know my clients more.
slow down and take the time to enjoy the process of crafting sessions/galleries.
slow down and be present with my family.
slow down and be present when i’m working.
slow down and allow myself to rest when im tired.

it’s okay to slow down. i know our society applauds speeding up…but im here to remind you - slowing down can be even more beautiful.

i recently had a conversation with a friend about family photos - the parts of family photos we love, and the aspects that we find challenging. through this discussion, i feel like we cracked the code.

it’s not about perfection.

you don’t need a perfect house.
you don’t need everyone to smile the whole time.
you don’t need your hair, make up, or clothes to be perfect.

what you need is an environment that cultivates love, joy, and play.

THESE are the moments you want to remember forever - the ones that feel raw, and that will always remind you of these joyful times.

one of my favorite parts of sessions like this is how it captures your emotion and your relationship so beautifully. and that is something you just can’t put a price tag on 🤍

fun fact!!! i often host newborn sessions in my own home.

so many of my sweet families want a cozy home setting, but (as you can imagine) don’t have it in them to tidy their house for their newborn session, and while we love a good studio, i also love hosting people to my own house to get those same cozy lifestyle photos, with the energy of cleaning totally eliminated.

I finally have my head out of the cloud of editing, and I’m realizing just how much work i have stored away from busy season last fall, all the way to now that i haven’t shared a thing from…

something that i’ve learned over time, as i have gotten to work with couples who are growing their families, is that photo sessions only get more fun, and easier on the parents (specifically you dads out there 😜) as you have babies.

did you read that right?! EASIER?!

hear me out.

you know when you had your engagement photos, and you told your photographer, “you’re going to have to REALLY help us out - we are so awkward in front of the camera!!” (trust me, almost everyone says this!)

think about it - then, it was just the two of you, not many options to direct your attention. with kiddos, it gives you extra things to focus on.

yes, i will still direct you, but i just love watching this shift happen - the focus and pressure doesn’t feel as heavy on you, and you get to really capture these years that move so quickly and in such a blur. 🤍
