Hey FB fam! Just in case you missed my previous announcement, I need your help. I am proud to be running to retain my seat on the Oak Park School Board in Michigan. I was appointed to the board two years ago, and currently serve as Secretary. We have made great strides and I want to keep the momentum going.

Pamela Jones-Mathis of HuLaFiTNaTioN will lead us through a hula hoop session and we will discuss the importance of physical fitness in our community. Dress to sweat and participate or you can just watch and learn.

We all know that Valentine’s Day has morphed into an ooey-gooey celebration of love for many. And while the main purpose of the holiday is to spread love and goodwill, it can also be a bit problematic for some who find themselves single on February 14th.

Soul Fire, LLC would like to share a few ideas for how to survive Valentine’s Day for our single friends out there:

• Go out on a friend date. Grab one of your single friends or a group of single friends and take yourself out for dinner, drinks, or a movie.
• Treat yourself. Go get a mani/pedi or full body massage. Eat a big bowl of your favorite ice cream. Order take out from a new restaurant that you always wanted to try.
• Relax. Take a nap. Take a walk. Watch a movie. Enjoy being able to do whatever you want, whenever you want.
• Throw yourself a dance party. Put on your favorite playlist and dance like no one is watching in the comfort of your own home.
• Do some service. Volunteer. Give blood. Visit a nursing home. Babysit for a couple that wants to go out. Perform small acts of kindness throughout your day. These types of things will lift your spirits and help you stay optimistic.

Last but not least, give yourself grace; ride whatever emotion you are experiencing out, but don’t get stuck; and just enjoy the day and life – with your beautiful single self!

National Human Trafficking Awareness Day is recognized each year on January 11th. In recognition of this important day, and throughout the month of January,

Soul Fire LLC, is encouraging participation in Blue Campaign’s largest initiative, which is on January 11th. To raise awareness of human trafficking, we encourage the public to take photos of themselves, friends, family, and colleagues wearing blue clothing and share them on social media – Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram – along with the hashtag.

Anyone can participate, all you need is a piece of blue clothing!
