This time of year is often a time of reflection for me. It is our “slow” season (does that actually exist anymore?) and I do my best to make space for solitude and contemplation. ⁠

In May, Detroit Cultivated will enter its 8th year in business and with that will come a few exciting announcements from our team! 🤫⁠
⁠
When I step back to reflect on how far Detroit Cultivated has come, what I am most impressed by is how far OUR INDUSTRY has come. There are so many incredible business owners who have taken the reigns as leaders in our space.⁠
⁠
For that, I am immensely grateful because even though many of them are technically “competition”, they have inspired me and my team to rise to the next level. You know who you are 😉⁠

Endless gratitude to all of the leaders in the wedding and events space in Michigan. Together, we have truly impacted the industry in the last 8 years and I cannot wait to see what we all have in store for the future. 🥂

Music has the power to transform our energy. Throughout the evening of the Cranbrook inaugural fundraiser, Window to the World, four different bands set the energetic tone for guests. The Cranbrook Jazz Ensemble - a group of nearly 30 student musicians - took the stage during cocktail hour to welcome guests with a selection of up-tempo jazz tunes they had prepared for the event.

, Rhythm Collective of , and graced us with their musical gifts throughout the evening as well and totally took our breath away!

We are still pinching ourselves that we were able to design an event in Cranbrook School’s Dining Hall 🤍✨

When we spent time in this space during the day, the light filtering through the windows would cast beautiful shadows on the ceiling and walls.

Once we decided that the VIP reception and echo party would take place in the dining hall, we knew we wanted to mimic this experience with a lighting design at night.

Thank you to our incredible partner, frost lighting, for helping us bring daytime experience to life for guests at night.

Never underestimate the ability of custom paper goods to elevate event design! We worked with to design beautiful paper touchpoints throughout RWDW. ⁠

From an es**rt display complete with suede es**rt cards (each with a quote selected to empower women on the back), personalized dinner menus with white foil pressed into handmade green paper and beyond -- each paper element truly tied together the design.⁠

This past weekend felt like pure magic. We welcomed 400 guests to the first-ever Cranbrook Schools all-schools fundraiser, Window to the World 🌎 ✨⁠ ⁠

An enchanting archway of fall blooms invited guests into the mesmerizing Cranbrook dining hall for a VIP cocktail reception. Here guests enjoyed modern takes on classic dining hall dishes served in event-branded vessels.⁠ ⁠

Musicians led guests across the Cranbrook quad for a strolling reception, dinner, and dancing beneath a completely transformed tented venue.⁠ ⁠During their time in the tent, two phenomenal bands preformed for guests — the Cranbrook Jazz Ensemble during cocktail hour and Elán’s Rhythm Collective for dinner and dancing!

To end the evening, we invited guests back to a transformed dining hall for an echo party!

Beyond grateful for this opportunity, and to all of the vendors who made our vision an awe-inspiring reality!

The one thing we ALWAYS ask ourselves with each event: what will our wow "moment" (or moments!) be? For S&R, it was without a doubt a floral installation that spanned four ceiling beams and organically "floated" above their guests during their dining experience.
