Juneteenth, observed on June 19th, is a significant day in American history that marks the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. The name "Juneteenth" is a blend of "June" and "nineteenth," the day in 1865 when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced General Order No. 3, proclaiming freedom for enslaved people in Texas. This was two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth symbolizes the end of a dark chapter in American history and celebrates the resilience, culture, and contributions of African Americans throughout the centuries. Be safe, celebrate, and educate!
