The Detroit Writing Room’s nonprofit arm @coachingdetroitforward is celebrating 5 years this summer! 🥳☀️
Through free writing and photography camps and workshops, we’ll have coached over 175 Detroit high school students by the end of this summer! 📝📸
Many of our students are now in college, pursuing creative fields and building on the skills we taught them.
We’re so proud of all our alumni and can’t wait to welcome a new group of students for our 5th summer!
If you’d like to support our coaching and mentorship of Detroit youth, consider attending the Summer Author Series at The Whitney that kicks off May 29.
The series is held the last Wednesday of every month, May through August, at 7 p.m. All proceeds support CDF’s free summer programs for students.
Each event includes 2 author talks, Q&A, book signings, drinks, appetizers and a raffle. All events take place outdoors on The Whitney’s patio, weather permittting.
