Reggae Gurlz Entertainment, LLC (RGE) was established October 7, 2003 in Detroit, MI with the mission to highlight the reggae dancehall culture in Detroit.

Members Spirit, Styles, and Suga first started with promoting dancehall parties which lead to creating the first Detroit Dancehall Queen, and Detroit Dancehall Queen Competitions. These competitions would advance young ladies to the Mid-West Dancehall Queen Competition in Chicago with the ultimate goal of competing at the International Dancehall Queen Competition, in Montego Bay, Jamaica. RGE also

partnered with Caribbean & African Source News, a monthly periodical publication in Detroit, covering entertainment news, event reviews, and local and international artist interviews. RGE’s entertainment coverage is also featured on Detroit’s only dancehall website, DetroitReggaeSource.com. Working for and within the Detroit Caribbean community is a focus for RGE, and is currently a vital part of the Caribbean Cultural Carnival Organization (CCCO) for the past eight years, which is known for the Detroit Caribbean Cultural Festival and Miss & Jr. Miss Carival Pageant. Reggae Gurlz Entertainment now manages Lipsmackerz.com and Reggaegurlzent.com which covers Dancehall Reggae interviews, red carpet interviews, and follows Dancehall Queen Lifestyles.

We had a blast!
After a looong hiatus, we asked if it can be done again. Can we have another dhq competition in Detroit? Who would compete? Do the younger generation even know what a DHQ is??? With those questions in the back of our minds, we put together this competition not knowing what to expect... and Detroit you showed up and showed out!

This year's Detroit Dancehall Queen Competition would not have happened without our team/family, long time supporters, dancers and the dancehall community.

Special thanks to High Energy Sound DJ-Thinman Phillips DjKhado Gayle , Complex Banquet Hall , Fluffy Protection, Lennox Jerk, Sticky Infuzions , , Fuji One Promotions, Zion Productions , Maintenance 313 , and the Sexy Angels crew.

Thanks to for bringing the vibes. A very special thanks to our judges: , , , and who finally was able to pass on her crown. They did an AMAZING job at selecting our new DHQ.
