WSU Dance Workshop We are a Wayne State University student-organized dance company creating art in and around Detroit since 1928.

Dance Workshop is a student produced-company at Wayne State University that gives its members a creative outlet to choreograph, perform, and grow as artists. The company aims to embody all characteristics of a professional dance company including showcase, outreach, fundraising, and publicity responsibilities. Dance Workshop continues to strive for excellence and innovation in the education of emerging artists in the dance world.

Dance Workshop is officially launching our GoFundMe Campaign for the semester!

All funds raised support the production of our evening-length work; including costumes, set design, and props, as well as provide support for the overall continued vision of the Dance Workshop student company. Your generous donations also allow us to share our work with local Detroit schools and communities. We greatly appreciate you and your continued encouragement of our creativity and expression, and engagement with the professional dance field.

As a student-led collective, we do not receive other financial support for the work we make. Your donations are crucial, allowing us to bring our full vision to life and continue refining our craft as aspiring movement artists.

Our GoFundMe campaign has a soft goal of $500 to achieve by April 4th and we can't wait to meet our goal so we can potentially stretch it further! Any contributions would truly mean the world to us, and we cannot wait for you all to see what we have in store for this season!

Finished up our photoshoot last night. A shoutout and huge thank you to .c for organizing and leading that process, we are so excited to see how they turn out. We felt it would be a great time to use these rehearsal shots from one the worlds .mattar has been creating.

Due to COVID-19, it has taken a while for Dance Workshop to adjust to life online as Wayne State’s physical campus has shut down over the past few weeks. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the rest of our season is canceled. We cannot thank you all enough for your endless love and support over the past year as we grew and re-structured this collective. Without you, none of this would have been possible. We can only hope to continue the growth of this community, and reconnect with all of you when we can.
Dance Workshop extends health and care to everyone during these times, see you all soon.

Improv Jam

Improv Jam is coming up!! This Friday, 5:30-7:30 in Studio A of Old Main. We are excited to share the space with a ton of lovely movers and a live musician! You won't want to miss it!

Rehearsals have started and so has the Dance Workshop 2019/2020 season. Our four amazing student choreographers Amanda Benjey, Joey Mattar, Kayla Gonzalez, and Taylor Craft are all exploring their choreographic proccesses.
