The DMA's Tuesday Morning Coffee for Seniors will be hosted tomorrow at the DeWitt Memorial Building at 9:00 am. Lindsay Post from DARA will be with us to discuss what DARA may have to offer seniors in DeWitt and inquire about what type of activities you may be interested in. The DeWitt Memorial Association would like to thank everyone who attended the Senior Coffee this morning. we had a great time and enjoyed Chief Ferguson's visit. Please note, the Chief informed of us a new SCAM. People are stealing mail from mail boxes with flags up. They are hoping to find checks you may have included in your mailings. They are then changing names and amounts and cashing at small party stores. The Chief suggests taking your mail to the post office or the big blue postal boxes if possible for safety purposes. These thefts are not just in DeWitt. The issue stretches from Grand Ledge to Bath so please be careful.
The DMA's next Senior Coffee will be Tuesday, October 18 at 9 am. We meet from 9 - 10:30 am at the DeWitt Memorial Building the 3rd Tuesday of the month.

The DeWitt Ox Roast opens at 4 pm this Friday.
Over the last few weeks we have been promoting the times and location of activities; however, we are receiving a number of inquiries about activities or the lack of activities so I would like to update the weekend for you. Please remember this 3-day festival is managed by 7 volunteers, funded entirely by local businesses, and operated by numerous community volunteers.
1. There is no car show. We did not have the volunteers to make this happen.
2. There are no fireworks due to the cost.
3. There is no Bingo due to the number of volunteers needed.
4. There are no watermelon or ice cream eating contests
The DMA Board of Directors decided early in the planning process to focus on the activities which have the greatest participation.
The Food & Beverage Court will feature a variety of vendors: The Smoke N Pig – BBQ; Family Tree Café – Ox Burgers; Genevosi Concessions – Fresh Squeezed Lemonade; Finger Lickin Chicken and Fish; Concession World – Mediterranean Foods; Jay’s Dogs- a variety of hot dogs, cheeseburgers, french fries and onion rings; Kona Ice; Frick’n Good Cookies; Hungry Howie’s Pizza.
Beer and Wine will be available within the food court only. We will be featuring Budweiser and Burgdorf Winery products. It is important to remember open alcohol is not allowed on any street. Alcohol must be purchased within the fenced area and must stay within the fenced area. This is the law!
The main stage will offer top notch entertainment supported by professional sound and lighting systems. Friday’s band is Sinjon Smith, a cover band from Clarkston. Saturday is a cover band from Grand Rapids, Great Scott, and Sunday’s entertainment is Life Support from DeWitt.
Maple Leaf Amusements is fully staffed this year and will be offering additional rides this year. Wristbands will be $25 Friday, $30 Saturday, and $25 Sunday.
Saturday opens with the Hometown Parade at 10 am followed by the Frog Jumping contest at the Gazebo at Noon and the Petting Zoo and Pony Rides at Riverside Park at 1 pm.
The Corn Hole Tournament will be hosted at the Food & Beverage Court at 2 pm. You can register online at www.dewittoxroast.org or at the Chamber office. You can also register at the information booth until noon on Saturday.
Sunday will open with a Pancake Breakfast at 9 am at the Food Court. Tickets can be purchased at the Chamber Office, the Information booth, or Sunday at the Food Court.
Numerous activities will be hosted at Riverside Park on Sunday including the Duck Race at noon; tickets can be purchased at the Chamber Office or the Information both prior to the event. There will be no Duck ticket sales on Sunday. Youth Tractor Pull at 12:30 is free for children 6 – 12 years of age. The Pet Parade and Beauty Contest will be hosted at 1:30. You can register your pet online, the Chamber office, or the information booth.

The DeWitt Memorial Association will host the 76th Annual Ox Roast next weekend, the 19th-21st. A number of great activities are planned for the weekend which will be attractive to all age groups. However, with any event of this size, there are always challenges First, the road closures. The main streets in downtown will close at 7 am Thursday. This is to accommodate the setup of the carnival, stage, and tents. The closures will include Bridge Street between Washington and Jefferson Streets and Main Street between Scott and Franklin Streets. Friday Morning at 7 am Jefferson Street between Franklin and Scott Streets will be closed for Arts & Crafts. We are providing this information in advance so you will have time to change your travel routes.
Alcohol: The only alcohol allowed within the festival area must be purchased by the Ox Roast Bar Tenders and you must remain within the designated area to consume it. It is against the law to bring your own alcohol and it is against the law to have open alcohol outside the designated area. Our liquor license is dependent upon everyone following the law.
Due to numerous complaints and near misses last year, no bicycles, or skateboards will be allowed in the festival area.
We are looking forward to hosting this year's festival and hope you will join us for a fun-filled weekend. A map of the event and street closures is being provided along with the schedule and location of events.

The 76th Annual Ox Roast hosted in DeWitt is quickly approaching. Activities and events for everyone. Arts & Crafts; Food, Beer, Wine; Great Entertainment; Carnival Rides; Corn Hole Tournament; Parade; Petting Zoo & Pony Rides; Frog Jumping Contest; Pancake Breakfast; Duck Race; Youth Tractor Pull; and Pet & Beauty Contest.
Friday's Entertainment is the very popular Sinjon Smith Band. The Great Scott Cover Band will take the stage Saturday Evening, and Life Support, a local favorite will join us Sunday Afternoon. The DeWitt Memorial Association will host a Tuesday Morning Coffee for Seniors 60 and older, next week, the 22nd at the Memorial Building.
The DeWitt Memorial Association, the host of the “Tuesday Morning Coffee” for seniors, is a privately owned non-profit, charitable organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The DeWitt Memorial Association owns and operates the DeWitt Memorial Building which is funded by the DeWitt Ox Roast and managed by the DMA Board of Directors. Please note, this is not a government-owned building and does not receive any governmental funding.
With that said, we would like to reach out to our senior community about a Senior Program. If we were able to secure funding for a more extensive Senior Program, what type of activities would interest you, and what time of day would be best? Information pertaining to the Tuesday Morning Coffee is attached along with a questionnaire. The questionnaire can be completed at the Coffee on Tuesday or mailed to the Chamber Office at 113 S.
