👀 LOOK! 👀 I moved the tulips from the cold stratification(my flower cooler) to the grow lights, if you look closely you can see tiny baby tulips poking out for my valentines sale coming up in February. These tiny tulips will look so good with my white daffodils ! I’ll also have paperwhites plants and other fun items for all the flower lovers - like me🌷

It’s only 11 degrees- that’s brutal when there is no snow to insulate! It’s hard to see but the photo with Sprout has a lot of ice pushing out of the ground- even though I’ve got everything covered with frost cloth - now I have to worry that the plants will be lifted out of the ground 🥶

We were able to miss the last snow & got a nice amount of rain. Hopefully we have this one more storm and that’s it! It makes me hope we are going to have an early spring. That means spring flowers!!!!

Today is my Dads Birthday, and although he isn't here to enjoy the Flower Farm, He gave me the love of nature and flowers that I have & I will always appreciate that gift!

Do you know why this flower farm puts out bird seed during our cold weeks? It probably doesn’t make sense since we grow cut flowers… but it’s those birds who stay because we feed them are an extremely important part of my ecosystem! They eat bugs in the field later! So I try to keep them as healthy and happy as I can ! We also have bird houses and shelters up everywhere so they can get out of the cold!

Now of course penguin & raccoon bird feeders aren’t necessary, they could be boring, but that’s just not our style 😉

Trees are the longest living organism in the world... this one is 4800+ years old

Let that sink in...

I think plants are important in keeping the earth alive - that is why even though I cut flowers, I replant immediately and keep the earth covered in vegetation- I think of a bear piece of soil as a cut in Mother earth & try to repair it by planting.

There is so much going on in the plants/microorganisms symbiosis that we don't understand... but they clearly learned that COEXISTING is the key to life

Instead of resolutions, I choose a word each year that can help guide me on my farm journey. 2024's word was WONDER and I believe that I saw a lot of wonder in my year and really let the word guide me in my business! This year I decided that my word will be MOXIE! It takes a lot of Moxie to own a business and to get it to the level you dreamed. I want the Moxie to come out of my shell and do more networking and make more friends. I usually spend every extra second at the farm and that does not facilitate the relationships I want in my life, so I will let MOXIE guide me for 2025.

What is your word for 2025??

Anemone's are starting to bud up despite this weather! The low tunnels are doing their job keeping the perfect climate for them. I on the other hand have been adjusting the tunnels twice a day- can't be to hot or too cold- I'm going to double blanket what needs it during our cold snap! still planning all of my events for 2025 but missing my blooming buddies and our flower talks!

Well I guess we had a tiny micro burst this morning- all people and animals are fine but all of the tunnels were down and our neighbors lost their shed 😞
Our outdoor Christmas trees ornaments were everywhere & the front porch is a mess - you can see our barn cat Lone Ranger is showing me the mess lol
Mother Nature will do whatever she wants to!
