The weather was absolutely glorious this past weekend for Grace Community Baptist Church's spring picnic at our barn venue. ☀️
Everyone had a great time enjoying some good food on our lakeside ceremony space and feeding our goats. One little girl even said she wanted to have her wedding here someday.

3 wedding planning mistakes we see over and over again that are so easy to avoid
1. Not including vendors when giving your caterer your head count.
Many vendors, such as photographers and videographers, will stipulate in their contracts that you either give them time off to leave and get food or have a meal for them. Since most couples wouldn't want their vendors to leave in the middle of their reception, you need to make sure that you include them when you give your caterer the final head count for food. Your vendors work hard, but they can't do their job well if they're famished. Make sure they're fed!
2. Not alternating sides when making the seating chart.
Sometimes, when one person in a couple takes charge of the planning process, they without thinking will put all their family and friends at the first tables. This is an easy mistake to make, but it can ruffle a lot of feathers, especially if you are having a buffet dinner. Your new in-laws won't be happy when everyone on their side is still waiting at their seats while everyone from your cousin to your roommate from college's plus one gets food before them.
3. Waiting to book the venue.
When I say people book way in advance, I am not joking. We are about a third of the way through 2023, and already most of the inquiries we are receiving are for weddings in 2024 and 2025. If you know what kind of venue you want / where you want to get married, start sooner rather than later. Prime weekend dates go fast.
Another reason to book your venue first is that you may be able to score some discounts that will save you big money later on in the planning process. in honor of this false spring we've been having, we are sharing some gorgeous floral arrangements that we've seen at Lake Fungs Barn.
From romantic pinks to vibrant oranges, flowers have shown up in bouquets, on the arbor, along the stairs and even on cakes.
We can't wait to see what our 2023 couples will do. But until then, I'll for sure be picking up flowers on my next Trader Joe's run.

At the end of the night, your guests can take home these pieces as their favors and, as a bonus, give you one less thing to clean up.
2. Opt for a sheet cake. - Want the cake cutting moment without the hefty price tag? Get a small tiered cake for the photos. Then, ask your caterer to cut and pass out slices of sheet cake in the kitchen.
3. Repurpose ceremony flowers as reception decor. - Floral prices can add up. A great way to save is to use flowers from your ceremony, whether it's from decor or bouquets, to decorate your reception space. You can ask your planner or wedding party to help set up during cocktail hour.
