My two grandnieces came to visit me this summer and we had our moment behind my lens.
Gabrielle Rose is my youngest, 11 years old and incredibly smart.
What we kept from this visit: “ If you stumble, make it part of the dance”

Amelia is my first grandniece. She came to spend part of the summer with us. At 11 years old, and on her way to elementary school, she’s playful, curious, a nature lover and a little “fashionista”. It’s been a joyful time for us having this kid around. Once I was able to get her out the backyard where she was playing with lizards and feeding squirrels, we played a little “dressing up” and made this shoot. I’ve taken multiple pictures of her with her mom, but this time was only her, letting her personality shine.

Remembering photojournalist Eve Arnold, the first female photographer to join the Magnum photo agency.

Eve was born on this day, April the 21st, in 1912.

She left us an amazing legacy with many truly iconic images.

“It was love at first sight” says Neysis about the precious black beauty she is holding in the picture.
I met Neysis through her IG page “” and I was immediately fascinated by her noble cause, helping abandoned and abused animals; specially cats!
“Murcy” belonged to a couple who sadly passed away due to the pandemic, leaving this beautiful and sweet boy behind. He was lucky to bond with Neysis and find a loving home along with 8 other adopted feline siblings.
During the nearly 3 years of pandemia confinement, many persons sought the comforting company of loyal pets which many later abandoned. Some were forsaken because they could no longer be cared for and others were simply not useful anymore.....
Pets are great company, but they are not toys. Like you, they are living, breathing beings. They do have needs and feelings...and they respond to hurt or kindness.
Neysis’s love for cats goes beyond the label of a “cat lady” as the dedication and efforts she invests into each rescue is outstanding. If you donate to her cause, it will be greatly appreciated, but the most important thing for her is to find loving homes with responsible parents for these rescued babies.
Neysis, Fiorella and I got together to create these powerful images to bring awareness towards the value of adoption instead of buying a pet, and to support the joy and responsibility that comes with this decision.
Murcy came to the help with our shoot, not because he was the pretty one, but because he was the most sociable “model”. Believe me; if she would have brought all nine cats we would have been just as delighted !
Murcy, Amaury, Carina, Heriberto Jose, Aymara, Barbara, Emilio, Thiago and Roberto, will have a new sister in a couple of months. A human sister this time, and most likely another cat lady 😻

“Fue amor a primera vista” dijo Neysis esta belleza negra que tiene en sus brazos en la foto.
Conocí a Neysi a través de su página de IG “” e inmediatamente
quedé fascinada por su noble causa, ayudar a animales abandonados y maltratados;
¡Especialmente gatos!
“Murcy” pertenecía a una pareja que lamentablemente falleció a causa de la pandemia, dejando atrás a este hermoso y dulce gatito. Tuvo la suerte de encontrarse con Neysis y llegar a un hogar amoroso junto con otros 8 hermanos felinos adoptados.
Durante los casi 3 años de confinamiento por la pandemia, muchas personas buscaron
el comfort y la compañía de leales mascotas que muchos luego abandonaron. Algunos fueron abandonados porque ya no podían ser atendidos y otros simplemente ya no eran útiles...
Las mascotas son una gran compañía, pero no son juguetes. Como tú, son seres vivos que respiran. Tienen necesidades y sentimientos... y responden al dolor o la amabilidad.
El amor de Neysis por los gatos va más allá de la etiqueta de “Cat Lady”, ya que la dedicación y el esfuerzo que invierte en cada rescate es increíble.
Si donas a su causa, te lo agradecerá mucho, pero lo más importante para ella es encontrar hogares amorosos con padres responsables para estos bebés rescatados.
Neysis, Fiorella y yo nos reunimos para crear estas hermosas imágenes y generar conciencia sobre el valor de la adopción en lugar de comprar una mascota, y para apoyar la alegría y la responsabilidad que conlleva esta decisión.
Murcy vino a ayudarnos en nuestra sesión, no porque fuera el mas bonito, sino porque era el “modelo” más sociable. Créeme; Si hubiera traído a los nueve gatos, ¡habríamos estado igual de encantados!
Murcy, Amaury, Carina, Heriberto Jose, Aymara, Barbara, Emilio, Thiago y Roberto, tendrán una nueva hermana en un par de meses. Una hermana humana esta vez, y muy probablemente otra Cat Lady😻
