I began session 3 of my therapeutic horticulture certification this week! I just love this program and I learn something new every week (my flower friend @foxglovefarmhouse told me about it when we were chatting all things gardening awhile back).
This semester is all about accommodating a range of abilities in programming, and how to make nature-based activities more adaptive and accessible for diverse populations.
At every workshop (like this recent one with @homeremedystudio at @northcountryhardcider!) I’m reminded of the power that flowers, observing nature and creating something can hold for more presence, joy, compassion, and connection in our daily lives. Statistics show the many ways nature can lower stress and anxiety and increase overall happiness and well-being. That sounds pretty good to me.
I have so many ideas for integrating this work into our mission here, and developing more programming to meet a variety of needs. It feels like this is just the beginning! 🌱
(Thanks to my social media savvy SIL Jen for creating this video, who has much more patience than I do for making reels. 😅)
Savoring the anemone while we have 'em. 😍 Next year I will definitely start these sooner so we have them for a longer stretch before heat. Always an experiment and more to learn around here!
