WE SALUTE YOU MISS LADY ON THIS MEMORIABLE BLACK HOSTRY 2024.
"Stormy Weather" (1943) is a classic musical directed by Andrew L. Stone and written by Frederick J. Jackson, Ted Koehler, and H.S. Kraft, who adapted the story from Jerry Horwin and Seymour Robinson. It was one of seven all-black cast films released by major Hollywood studios between 1929 and 1960, which includes "Cabin in the Sky," also released in 1943 and stars Lena Horne. However, "Stormy Weather, released by 20th Century Fox, was loosely based on Bill Robinson's life. The movie starred several famous black actors and entertainers from the 1940s, including Cab Calloway and His Cotton Club Orchestra, the Nicholas Brothers, Dooley Wilson, Fat Waller, Katherine Dunham and Her Troupe, and Ada Brown. I highly recommend this movie because of its memorable performances and history of entertainers. Plus, everyone in the film was a pioneer for black actors today.
