Can we talk for a minute about how cool allium schubertii is? This is my first year growing her, and I only grew one row, but WOW am I in awe and in love! She added a touch of both drama and whimsy to the tables at Terrain for last weekend’s wedding. They bloom on strong stems that worked so well with the flower frogs!

Lily of the Valley currently blooming in perfect French manicure pink and white ❤️ One sniff of this ephemeral Spring scent and memories of my amazing Omi immediately come to mind. She gardened on her hands and knees until almost the end of her 108 years, and the only perfume she ever wore was Muguet. A bottle of it was always in her bathroom, along with a crocheted doll with the toiletpaper-covering dress 😆 Did your grandmother have one of those dolls, too?

I’ve got 27 minutes before I have to leave for my flight to Tokyo — so plenty of time for me to get these ranunculus in to pre-sprout before I leave 😅 Hopefully they’ll be green and leafy when I return with my “baby” boy in 2 weeks. He just finished his study abroad, and we are going over to drag him back home.

Sad to look out my studio window this morning and see my beautiful curly willow snapped in half and crushing our fence 😫 I always tell the story of buying a few little curly willow branches when I was pregnant with my now-23 year old son, and how when I went to pull the sticks out of their vase, they had rooted, so I dug a tiny hole, and stuck them in the ground. I never imagined that someday this tree would become a prominent feature in our yard. Sigh.

This morning’s snow reminded me to post this beautiful snowy day wedding from earlier in January. While I don’t do many weddings outside of my growing season, I served in Haiti a few years ago with this beautiful bride & her family, which made the decision to say yes to doing her wedding florals an easy one. So. Much. Joy ❤️
