As we celebrate America’s birthday, we want to wish everyone a safe and fun-filled 4th of July!
Happy 167th Birthday to this handsome gentleman and Doylestown’s own Henry Chapman Mercer!
Born just a couple of blocks north of our hotel on June 24, 1856, Mercer was a man of many accomplishments, and regarded as a 20th-century Renaissance Person. Harvard-educated and holding a J.D. from the he decided that a life of law and politics was not for him and turned his attention to a career he was more passionate about. The rest, as they say, is history!
Make sure to take time to learn about his amazing legacy at one or all of the he left to his hometown! And if you’re staying over, book yourself into Room 303, the Henry Mercer Room, named in his honor!
