I thought I posted our fun painting day in Maquoketa at Clinton community college. It was last Saturday! A family came and had a great time! All tge barns are different and creative!

Oil painting class today! This was to be the last one but we have a make-up class in 2 weeks for one we missed. Today was a radish and garlic still life. Little bit harder but I love this. I have a lot more work to do as I couldn't get very far in 2 hours but this is definitely fun to paint for me. I'm gaining confidence and it nice to have someone to ask questions! I appreciate the teacher Pam!

Easter basket, new painting!!! 💚💙💛💜🩷

I was looking for something to create with a giant bow! They are so popular now!

I took pictures of the process. I design all the elements, then put them together and cut templates. I do this so we have consistency and to make a difficult subject be a bit easier for you.
So when I'm creating something new I have many factors I consider if it will be a goid candidate to do a fun class. It needs to be obtainable in 3hrs and I like to give you a opportunity to learn many techniques!

I however make mistakes to along the way and sometimes don't realize something I'd rather change until after it's finished.

In this case, I think the eggs are to high in basket. You don't have to make same mistake 😆 I'll make sure you lower them a little bit more.

Let me know if your interested or what you think! I'll probably create another Easter one with a bunny.

Oil Painting class today. The assignment was a white still life. Painting white objects helps you learn shading and contrast of shapes. There is a million shades of white 😎 so when you really start looking at things you'll see that!

This is only a 2 hour class so it's not about making everything perfect or finished.

This is at Bluff Strokes downtown Dubuque. IF you are looking for another type of art class check it out. They offer a variety of options. It's fun to try new things!

Oil painting class was canceled yesterday but that didn't stop me from painting!

I have been practicing all week! I'm beginning to get the hang of it I think!
When I was in college I painted lot of fruits, vegetables and landscapes. Not flowers as they intimidated me. I was a beginner ;)
This experience has been like visiting and getting to know an old friend. Someone you knew very well, played with often and shared your hopes and dreams with. However now your grown adults and those things feel like a very distant memory. I'm remembering why I fell in love with painting, with colors, and tge dreams and aspirations I had as a young art student. I still have those dreams. The difference is I'm wiser, more mature and 30 yrs if experience growing my skills.

Oils are challenging and can be difficult. I'm remembering techniques I liked then and my Mom's influence and watching her.

My goal is to paint what I love.
Flowers, plants, fruits and vegetables and country landscapes.
I have lots of learning still to do to paint the way I wish to...

This is how I start most paintings. A very rough sketch. I put a little extra to show you. I get a idea and roll with it.

This will be a class I hope. I haven't done a landscape in a long time.

So much goes into planning a new painting for you. I have to work hard not to make it challenging for you, that's hard for me 😉 I consider colors that are easy for you and weather we can accomplish this all in 3 ish hours. This will be fun in so many ways and I'll be able to show so many fun techniques!

I just thought I'd update you all.on my oil painting class I'm taking at Bluff Strokes.
Last week's still life was a fancy metal pot and green apple. I struggled a bit! I worked at home a little and improved. I also worked on oranges from 1st week. I feel I'm getting better at color mixing. Oils are completely different than Acrylic. I know the principles but the ex*****on will take practice!
Today we painted a pink glass jar and pink Lilly.
I feel I did OK for a 2 hour class ;)

I will continue to practice and also will start doing some of my own. I set up a little still life yesterday and worked. That was fun!

Ohh by the way. The second painting in pictures is my mother's. She painted this at least 15 years ago. I came home from my class and sat down. Looked up and boom my Mom's copper pot painting! Ohhh Mom's been right here guiding me! I have with she really was so she could teach me a few things!!!
She was a great oil painter! I'm working on it!

This so far has been a good experience!

What a fantastic fun afternoon yesterday at O So Good Winery in Dyersville! Barn painting and fun! Thank you for all that came out to paint. I always love seeing how people make them unique to what they like and their style!
We did have a gentleman that made his a burning barn 🤣 that was funny. Men sometimes do silly things at our paint events. Keeps us laughing. Some ladies did my Valentines jars and they all were so cute to!

First group to paint the pink glowing winter barn last night at Jumpers. We had fun and paintings turned out so great!

Also, I just want to recommend Jumpers to eat! Best Best food! Wings! The best, chili dog! The bomb! Onion rings, yummy. Seriously go to get food at Jumpers 🤩

Happy 10th birthday my little 3rd cousin Lilly 💗 it's always a blessing to do special a occasions for family!!!! This is my Mom's sister Addie great grand daughter. They had the party at my cousins house. They have special art on their walls I kinda forgot about.
Check out the picture with the fruit still life paintings. The one on bottom was one of my paintings from my college thesis exhibit! Wow over 25 yrs ago! The above painting was my Aunt Addie, they had several of my moms to! We have very talented artistic women in my family! So as they say. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! 🥰 Lilly keep painting!!!

I created this painting just for Lilly as she loves cats and butterflies 🥰 all tge girls did a great job! So cute!

These cold days of January I've been in studio everyday painting as much and as fast as possible. Finishing up things I began before or new paintings entirely.
This one took time! It feels like a million strokes! Maybe it was?
It's very pretty! I think nearly complete!
Focused on the light in these paintings!
When this is sealed will become even richer color!
