"How do I decide what colors and blooms to use in my bouquet?!" 💐🤓

The most asked questions we get when chatting with brides involve ✨color✨ and ✨bloom choices✨!

While trends ebb and flow, it's MOST IMPORTANT to choose something that YOU love, even if it's not "on trend". 🩵

We love hearing which blooms you love (and especially want to know which ones you do not like), but we do not expect you to be an expert! That's why you hire a professional team: to help you pick out the right ones for the season, the style, and the palette you choose 🌸

A few things to consider when trying to decide wedding colors or bloom choices::

1) Do the flowers accent the dresses? Or, do the dresses accent the flowers? Often times, brides will choose pops of the bridal party colors in their blooms to subtly accent the dresses (adding a small amount of blush blooms to accent the blush bridesmaids colors). Other times, the blooms are the bright or bold statement pieces and the dresses follow suit more subtly (like bright blooms with black dresses). Both are great options, especially when you let the blooms help the overall aesthetic! 😉

2) What are you drawn to when you scroll? Do you love classic white and green? Moody tones? Are you a pop of color person? Do you love ALL the colors? Big fluffy blooms? Lots of variety? There are no wrong answers. We love hearing what inspires you 😍

3) Do you have a favorite, must-have bloom? Did your grandma love freesia? Are peonies your love language? Did he propose with white roses? Often times your favorite blooms can dictate the colors and textures we use -- especially when they are seasonal blooms 🌸

This year, we have made a point to source many of our flowers have from LOCAL farmers! We loved being able to use florals from farms from in our branding shoot. 🌸🩵We are always excited to partner with our local growers and see what's been growing in the northland near Duluth! 😍

Some of our farm-fresh favorite cuts from this summer include::

Cosmos, Snapdragons, Scabiosa, Bachelor Buttons, & Zinnias. Most recently, the dahlias we recieved from were a GAME. CHANGER. 💐

Fall bouquets are so much fun because of the endless texture possibilities!My friend Makayla had THE hardest time choosing what to put in her wedding bouquet, but new she wanted something large and textured. Lucky for me, every time she saw a new fall bouquet on pinterest she would zoom in and screenshot a bloom or combo of foliage that were "her new favorite"!

Thankfully, fall is a time to embrace moody tones, rich textures, and a healthy mixture of blooms.

Located in downtown Duluth, MN, Superior Blooms offers full-service floral designs with a unique local flair. A division of Northland Special Events, Owner, Mariah McKechnie and her mother, Sharron began designing florals for weddings in 2010. Today, the duo loves creating floral arrangements for both special events and retail at their Superior Street location.
