Baby doll cake. Thank you Jazz for your orders and all of your previous orders.
Story time: My customers often come to me with their vision, and I try my best to recreate it. I have never had an issue with quality or the presentation of my product. I will always strive to give my customers what they need and what they want. There are times that your customers vision won't align with your vision. This customer has patronized my business over the past years and there may have been some hiccups (delivery and price) But I will always make it effort to make it right. I always give my customers my contract, I implore all of my customers to read their contract in full. Even if you're a repeat customer you should always read your contract. In this particular instance there was not an issue with the cake or the strawberries that I did for this customer but there was an issue that she didn't care for the look of the cookies that I made. I honored that, and normally where I do not do refunds, I refunded her for the cookies. As my contract states, my customers are to come to me directly when there's an issue so that we can work it out, they're also bound buy the contract that they will not negatively report any issues until they have contacted me. My customer did do that. So after the cookie issue was resolved, the cake and strawberries was to be delivered or picked up by my customer. My customer decided to enlist the help of having someone pick those items up. My contract states that once a cake leaves my hands and they are satisfied at the moment that it is delivered to them or picked up, my business assumes no fault if something happens in the transition when we don't deliver the product and it's picked up. Unfortunately, the cake was picked up by someone who my customer entrusted but when it was picked up it was compromised in traveling. . (I take pictures right up to delivery). The person who picked up the cake told my customer that the cake was not secure and that was simply not the issue. I am NOT taking fault for that. I wanted to try to help my customer but there was nothing that I could do because of the time restraint for that. Unfortunately the cake, although edible, cannot be showcased as shown below. I cannot speak on what may have happened but I know that the cake was intact and there was nothing wrong with the cake when it left my hands. The message here is that people do not realize the stress in transporting a cake, especially one of great proportion. My customer had to result in going to Walmart to get a cake for her daughter's birthday. I'm deeply saddened, one because I never want anyone's event to be ruined because of what they paid for they didn't get. This was out of my hands and there was nothing that I could do about it. Let this serve as a reminder, that paying the extra amount for personal delivery should not be declined because once a product leaves my business it is no longer my responsibility. On top of that it absolutely breaks my heart to see all of my hard work went to waste and even more than that It breaks my heart for the person who picked up the product to blame my construction on the reason that the product failed. We stand behind our product and if there's anything that is wrong, our contract states that we will make it right. Unfortunately I could not make this right because the failure of this product was not at the hands of my company. More than anything, I'm upset that this little baby did not get to see the beauty of her cake. My customers know the integrity of my work and my business, and that cannot be questioned or challenged.
With that said we are still going to persevere, everything is a learning lesson. In the future, I'm no longer going to allow my customers to decline the delivery of their product, they will have to pay for delivery, but to ensure that my product arrives as it was constructed and intact, I'm going to do my own personal delivery. Be blessed y'all.
The pictures that are shown below are what I constructed, and the blob of a mess is what happened once it was picked up.
