Update concerning Whitted family and Fiends Day :

Thank you to those that were able to attend the meeting on 7/30. Here is a recap of what was discussed for this year’s family weekend:

Event dates: August 18 - August 20
Location: All People's Grill (6122 Guess Road, Durham, NC)

Friday, August 18: Weekend Kick-Off
- Start time: 6:00pm
- ***BYOF: Bring your own food cookout style* (fish, burgers, chicken, hot dogs, etc.)***
- Bring your grills, fish fryers, napkins, cups, beverages, plates, etc.

Saturday, August 19: Whitted & Cameron Family and Friends Day
- Start time: 3:00pm*
- ***BYOF: Bring your own food family style¥(prepare and bring enough food to satisfy your family branch, including all sides, desserts, utensils, napkins, beverages, plates, cups, etc.)***
- Bring your tents, campers, pick-up trucks, coolers, grills, fish fryers, games and activities for kids, music, small generators, lawn chairs – everything you need to have a good time!
- The field will be set up to allow for designated spaces for parking and tent/camper set up

Sunday, August 20: Whitted Family Reunion
- Start time: ***Correction from prior communication - approx 3pm***
- Attire: Old family reunion shirts or shirts that showcase your family branch
- ***BYOF: Bring your own food Sunday dinner style (style (prepare and bring enough food to satisfy your family branch, including all sides, desserts, utensils, napkins,beverages, plates, cups, etc.)***
- We will acknowledge family accomplishments and birthdays
- Following the reunion – Family Reunion Meeting to discuss next year’s event
o We are collecting $100 per family on Sunday to offset costs of this year’s event

Additional Considerations:
o All People’s Grill will be open and available for cleaning, preparation for the weekend’s event, and to begin setting up your family items for Saturday’s event from Wednesday August 16 through Friday August 18.
o There may be preparations already in progress at All People’s Grill. Please be efficient, careful, and sanitary. If asked to limit your time in specific areas, please adhere to these requests.
o All hands should be prepared to be on deck to perform on Thursday August 17 at 5:30pm for large clean up of the facilities and grounds at All People’s Grill
o *On event days, weather advisories (extreme heat, rain, etc.) may impact some aspects of planned activities, but we will adapt as necessary*

Action items:
- Research portable toilets for set up on Saturday (researched, there will be one available)
- Research inflatable bounce castles for kids on Saturday (researched, one has not been reserved).
- Bring $100 to the Family Reunion Meeting on Sunday to offset costs of this year’s events

For the ANNUAL Whitted Family and Friends Day, (Sat, 8/19/23) aka “family reunion”, we are having a meeting Sunday, July 30 for discussion. Family and close friends please attend. Aunt (cousin to some) Judy, Linda, Kathy and family are informing it will be “Family Style” where in members of EACH family branch should bring their campers, tents, prepared food, fish, sides, grills, fryers, beverages, condiments, plasticware and games. (Enough for family and friends).There’s plenty of room. Bring whatever style food/items you would like to make it a group effort and a success. We’d like the field full like a small festival. If the families want bouncy houses and entertainment for the kids, please be prepared to contribute/bring that as well ($$$ for bounce house or similar). The event should be a GROUP effort in order to continue. All should be prepared to clean-up as well. 1)Family Style, 2) all representatives from EACH family branch should bring their own tents, tables, food cold drinks, grills, fish, fish fryers, etc 3) Contribute your time/efforts and funds, don’t just show-up 4) Make it fun for the kids also, 5) Make it a success annually. 6) This is non-negotiable at this point. Try teaming up with others too. Thanks!

We’ll be hosting a small flea market on most Saturdays starting at 9am.
at APG. Please message about getting a space (approx 10 by 10) where you can set up your table (s) and tent as a selling vendor.

Update: LWFF Day at All People’s Grill (8/20/22), Durham will be Family Style (similar to a tailgate setup). Bring your tents, chairs, food, beverages, grills, fryers, supplies, campers, etc. for your family. There’s plenty of room. It’s on each family to make this a success!

The Whitted Family and Friends Day is today, (Sat.) August 21, 2021 It will start no earlier than 3pm.

From family members, Aunt Judy is requesting active participation (bringing your food, items, efforts, supplies, items/games for kids, talents, good energy, and monetary contributions).

Each Whitted family member (immediate and extended) should bring a dish (es), drinks, ice in coolers, oil for fish frying, and event supplies.

Individuals are also needed to set-up beforehand and to help cleanup afterward.

This is required to keep the tradition alive💓.
