👏 Pose FX star Michaela Jaé (MJ Rodriguez) just made Emmys / Television Academy history with her nomination for Lead Actress in a Drama Series. She is the first openly actress to ever receive a nod in that category. Actor Billy Porter , Pose co-creator Steven Canals, and the show itself also received Emmy nominations. "Holy s**t!!!" Canals wrote in a tweet congratulating Jaé. The groundbreaking FX Networks series about New York City's house and ballroom community concluded with its third and final season this June, but its impact as the most trans-inclusive television series ever will never be forgotten.

U.S. track and field star is headed to the in Tokyo after winning the women’s 100-meter sprint event at the trials. The rising star has been vocal about the group of women who have helped her get where she is today personally and professionally. During her post-win interview, Richardson revealed that her girlfriend helped her choose her hair color, claiming that the vibrant hue "spoke to her." The talented athlete is now know for her long nails and bright hair colors as well as her lightning speed. Congrats on your win, Sha’carri, and best of luck in Tokyo!

In April 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I moved to Durham, North Carolina for work. The work I was doing consisted of long hours and very little time off, which meant there was no time to meet people or find my community, also a lot of Durham was still on stay-at-home orders. With the stay-at-home orders in place going out to an establishment was pretty impossible to do.

Fast forward to 2021, vaccines have been rolled out, establishments are starting to reopen, and people are starting to socialize again. I have an amazing boyfriend and things are going great, but there is just one thing missing and that is my sense of community. The lack of fellowship with other LGBTQ people has been creating a dark cloud around me and cannot seem to escape it. After searching for my community and failing to find what I’m lacking, I’m wanting to create spaces for LGBTQ people to come out, socialize, feel safe, seen, being part of a community, and understand what it means to belong. That is why I’m creating QUEERout NC: Triangle!
