In addition to arts activities throughout all of the Arts Annex we will have live music, djs, dance workshops, demos and an Arts Resource Fair! Thank you to everyone who has collaborated on bringing back the Arts Annex Open House celebration! See you all this Sunday from 1-5pm at 404 Gattis St. Don’t forget to take the bus or park in the Smith Warehouse parking lot as the Arts Annex parking lot will be used for the Arts Resource Fair and accessible parking. We are looking forward to creating art and building creative community on Sunday!

Next up in our meet the team series is Michael!!
Michael works the front desk and can often be seen skating around the annex 🛹 He’s been working here for 2 years and will be graduating this semester with a degree in computer science! Michael hopes that in the future, the Arts Annex will be “an even more wide-scoping space! Whenever people ask me what art I do, skating is my first answer, because it is my form of art.”

Do you like a challenge? The Arts Annex is holding a contest! Who can make the best-oversized art supplies out of cardboard and other recycled goods? The winner of this competition will get 2 seats at an Arts Annex wheel-throwing workshop! Work as a pair or solo. All materials will be provided. We are providing two drop-in dates to work with other folks taking on this contest on September 13th and 27th from 7-9 pm. However, you have until October 11th to submit your cardboard sculpture. All sculptures will be used to decorate the Arts Annex!

Join the Arts Annex on September 4th and September 20th from 7-9 pm to unleash your creativity by crafting exclusively from recycled materials! At this workshop you will explore how to bring a more sustainable approach to your creative practices. This program will introduce our Creative Reuse corner of the Arts Annex. For new students, the Arts Annex is a hub for creativity on campus—we offer free acrylic/watercolor paints, sewing machines/kits, access to a ceramics studio/clay, screenprinting supplies, and much more! Come check out the Arts Annex, one of our staff will be happy to show you around 🕺

We have made some changes to our summer Open Hours schedule due to staff availability. Starting this Sunday, June 2nd we will be open from 12-5pm each Sunday in June and July. Come meet our incredible Graduate Assistants, check out our art supplies, and use our space. We look forward to seeing what you create this summer! Plus, we have great news all projects created in January and February have now been fired. Come pick up your project on Sunday!

Meet Julianna, another one of our amazing front desk staff! Julianna loves seeing everyone’s amazing creations at the Arts Annex and working with a such fun team 😉 Julianna will leave for her physical therapy clinical rotations starting in July! She’ll be based in Denver, Baltimore, and one more undetermined location for her rotations. After that, she plans to become a performing arts physical therapist! 🕺🩰🪩 Congratulations Julianna, you will be missed!

Introducing Katie, our next feature in our Meet the Team series! Katie works at our front desk and has been with us since 2021. She enjoys seeing everyone come into the Annex and express themselves in their own ways!
Katie will graduate this semester and then move to Florida, where she will achieve her lifelong dream of working as a dolphin trainer! 🐬 Congratulations Katie! 🥳

Get ready to dive into our new series featuring the amazing staff who support the Arts Annex!
Meet Tashia, one of our front desk assistants who has been with the Arts Annex for around a year. Tashia’s favorite part of working at the Annex is seeing other peoples’ creativity and loves to create art like poetry, video, and photography. 📸🎞️✍️ They are also graduating this semester with a degree in African and African American studies!! 🥳🥳

Join the Arts Annex’s team in exploring LGBTQ comics! At 7pm, we will learn how to make our own comic strips and at 8pm we will watch the film “No Straight Lines: Rise of Q***r Comics”. This event is in collaboration with Blue Devils Make Comics 🕺✍️
