Proud sap alert 🚨

I remember working a 9-5, spending my days talking about bottom lines and KPIs. I remember thinking, “I’m so not okay. How is everyone else okay?” I remember wishing I could find a way to spend my days doing what I love - talking about love and life and philosophy and ideas… storytelling… moment-making. Being moved and moving others.

Today I’m celebrating the fact that I did the damn thing. Being a business owner is stressful in its own ways, but I make faces like this on the regular. And I call that a win.

This one’s for the kid in the back, who can barely hold his energy inside his little body but stops to pay attention long enough to see how incredibly happy his hero is.

I hope you get to look as happy as Corey does one day when you watch the love of your life walk down the aisle. I hope you re-live inside jokes with your best pals and dance the night away with love in your eyes.

But far more than that, wedding or no wedding, I hope you find whatever it is that lights you up. That you find meaning and that you cuss when life’s hard and also when life’s silly. I hope you find everything that weddings offer - love and life and beauty and the simple reminder of how very worth it it is to hold out hope and prioritize people. For you, little man. I don’t even know your name but your button nose is everything.

I believe in meaning-making. I have a special reverence for those brave enough to choose to find and make meaning in their lives, whether that’s through ceremonies like this one, ceremonies that reflect your unique values, or through other intentional experiences. (Y’all. Don’t get me started. There’s SO many ways to honor and facilitate transitions.)

It’s a brave thing to break outside of norms, for a new mother to celebrate her rite of passage by inviting the women in her life to witness and participate in what she holds sacred. Most of us would simply invite our friends over for a shower and call it good. Another options is to create an experience that ends with the kinds of feelings you see in the last photo, where we can’t help but laugh together as we wipe our tears, because that’s the only way to hold the magic of what just happened.

Let’s be a bit more intentional, shall we? Let’s celebrate the big moments like this, and the small ones too. Let’s make meaning where meaning is scarce.

Can we talk about what a sap I am?

I tend to post a lot of photos of my couples and I laughing and smiling together. And I love making y’all laugh - truly, I do. (My ego especially loves it.)

But more than that, I love making a moment. Moving a crowd through a shared emotional experience…Creating a container that helps your loved ones embody what your special kind of love feel like… Or simply reminding them of the magic being alive and in love. Watching my clients turned friends commit their lives to each other while the breeze kisses each of our skin at the same time. That’s what I live for.

Y’all know I love wedding ceremonies. But did you know that I officiate all kinds of other ceremonies and rites?

I got to hold space for and guide some women through this mother blessing ceremony last weekend.

The words powerful, magical, reflective and heart-opening come to mind when I think of the way we honored Madi’s progression from maiden to mother. There’s nothing quite like a purposeful gathering.

Every face at Brittany and Dan’s wedding was just positively beaming. If I had to choose a favorite, though, it would have to be Dan’s. He was ear-to-ear, jumping up and down like a kid in a candy store all day. This look he gave me right after being pronounced and kissing his wife says it all.
