Say hello to our other new contractor, Jacob 👋

Jacob is based in Culpepper, Virginia. He’s our resident ball of sunshine ☀️ It’s hard not to be all smiles when Jacob is around. Read his intro below and drop some virtual hugs for him in the comments:)

“Hey! I’m Jacob. I am a Gemini, a serial cat fosterer and a down-to-earth human. I am someone who will lend you an ear in times of need or just keep you on your toes with one of my many stories.

Most of all, I love meeting new people and hearing their life stories. I’m a bit of an adventure seeker, so I enjoy going on hikes, trying new restaurants, or just traveling any chance I get. If I’m not out looking for my next adventure, I’m usually just cuddled up on the couch with my wife and pets, probably watching reality TV. (I will stand by my belief that Survivor will always be the pinnacle of reality TV).

I became a reverend, because I want to give my couples an experience that they will remember for a lifetime. I want to create an authentic celebration of you and your partner’s life together and tell the story that is your love. Think of me not only as a reverend, but as your friend. If you ever want to talk about the ceremony, wedding stuff, or just shoot the breeze, I will always be a text or a phone call away! I’m so excited to meet you!”

Big news! I’m no longer a team of one. Meet one of two new officiants who are part of the crew, !!

Based in Raleigh, Alexis is our in-house creative writing pro who and equal parts mystic, poet and comedian. Read her intro below and give her a warm welcome 💕🙌

“Hi, I’m Alexis! I am a self-professed blazer connoisseur, Sagittarius, reformed horse girl, writer, and recalcitrant romantic. If you lose me at a party, you can find me wherever the music is the most irresistibly danceable.

Speaking of dance, I found my creative and spiritual groove through the practice of ecstatic dance and other forms of improvisational movement. For me, embodiment and the deep pleasure that comes with it are my way of connecting with the divine.

I believe that affirming and celebrating pleasure, in the face of all the ‘logical’ reasons to turn to cynicism, is a radical act, and I am passionate about using words to do so. There’s nothing like the magic of a perfectly apt phrase to really make a moment, story, or experience come to life. My M.O. is a cross between your most say-yes-to-anything girlfriend and that one guy at the bar who writes his most brilliant poems on the back of cocktail napkins. Above all, I believe that what makes a great ceremony is that it has your fingerprints all over it -- and maybe a sprinkle of rosewater, too. I’m so excited to work with you on capturing your you-ness on your big day!”

Proud sap alert 🚨

I remember working a 9-5, spending my days talking about bottom lines and KPIs. I remember thinking, “I’m so not okay. How is everyone else okay?” I remember wishing I could find a way to spend my days doing what I love - talking about love and life and philosophy and ideas… storytelling… moment-making. Being moved and moving others.

Today I’m celebrating the fact that I did the damn thing. Being a business owner is stressful in its own ways, but I make faces like this on the regular. And I call that a win.

This one’s for the kid in the back, who can barely hold his energy inside his little body but stops to pay attention long enough to see how incredibly happy his hero is.

I hope you get to look as happy as Corey does one day when you watch the love of your life walk down the aisle. I hope you re-live inside jokes with your best pals and dance the night away with love in your eyes.

But far more than that, wedding or no wedding, I hope you find whatever it is that lights you up. That you find meaning and that you cuss when life’s hard and also when life’s silly. I hope you find everything that weddings offer - love and life and beauty and the simple reminder of how very worth it it is to hold out hope and prioritize people. For you, little man. I don’t even know your name but your button nose is everything.

Dwight & Allison 💛 When these photos were taken in Paris last year, they had no plans to be getting married anytime soon. But this weekend I’m mountain-bound to get their knot good and tied!

Life changes fast, y’all. In between sweeping the floor and burning our eyes raw staring at our computer screens, there’s a big, beautiful, goopy whirlwind of surprises, laughter, pain and pleasure. What a strange thing to celebrate and yet, what better thing to do than celebrate?
