The amount of rain we’ve got in the last 24h brought me back to this rainy day from last summer, when we got to design this beautiful colorful arch in the pouring rain with 😅 Even though it was raining, we still had fun and the colors looked even more vivid against the dark clouds 😍

Last year went so fast that my head is still spinning while trying to remember everything that happened.
Now my eyes are in the future. I have opened my Freelance calendar and it’s already almost full. Granted, we will spend July and August in Finland so that takes a lot of space in the calendar. But spring and fall still has some space. I will also get to travel back to Colorado to design one wedding in April.
So many fun things happening this year with old colleagues as well as new colleagues I haven’t had the chance to work yet and I’m very excited to see all the beautiful weddings come together.

C & J had quite a lot of guest tables at their wedding, so to add variety and interest to their reception space, we created 3 different types of centerpieces which each matched their vision.
Instead of traditional table numbers, C & J listed items they value as a couple and incorporated little stories behind them. Such a cute idea and a great way to get guests out of their seat and mingle with other guests🥰

September - always the busiest month for weddings!
Last year I flew back to CO and we created so many beautiful weddings in September, like this stunner in . I couldn’t have survived without help. I had some amazing freelancers helping me push through and deliver the client exactly what they wanted ❤️
This year, I’m staying in MA and I get to be the one helping other florists as a freelancer to achieve their goals and going above and beyond in servicing their client!

It has been a HOT start to the month and I’m looking forward to a little cooler weather to come tomorrow.
This wedding day was a hot one as well (in so many ways 😉) but luckily the A/C was cooling us off and we were able to completely transform this reception space into something very romantic and magical 💫

I cannot believe it’s August already! Summer has flown by while I’ve been admiring everyone’s beautiful wedding flowers on social media, secretly wishing I could have my hands on flowers again (even though I love the baby snuggles as well).
There is just something special when you complete a wedding, take a few steps back and admire the work you’ve done. Making someone’s wedding look and feel like them. I miss that feeling. So I keep on watching photos of our work and reminiscing the busy design days in the sun!

Yesterday, I had a great talk with fellow flower friend about freelancers and the importance of them.
The truth is that they are more valuable than many knows and shows. The work we do with weddings is seasonal and it does not allow many of us to hire full-time employees, so most of us hire contract workers = freelancers per event.
When you start your company, you most likely start small, designing only personal flowers, and this is something one person can execute. But as the business grows, you start creating centerpieces, bigger installations, entry pieces, ceremony design etc., that is when you need to hire help. Not only for the design days but especially for the day of, as you only have a few hour time slot to get everything set up perfectly. And that is where the hustle gets real and everyone’s mental and physical strength, and tenacity is tested.
Freelancers will do everything within their power to execute someone else’s vision, no questions asked. They listen carefully instructions given and go for it. They have the same goal in mind than the business owner - to give the couple the most beautiful day, and they do all the work in the shadows, never getting the thanks for the hard work they put out.
The only way we can thank these hard working freelancers is to pay them well (more than Target or McDonalds), for their great work but also the lost time with their family, and to do this, we need to charge the client accordingly to be able to deliver what has been promised.
So thank you FREELANCERS who’s worked with Lummé over the years and helped put together some amazing weddings!!! I couldn’t have done any of them without you. I miss you all dearly ❤️
