Size:
The more people you invite, the more expensive your wedding will be. Many costs associated with your wedding are multiplied by your guest count (food and beverage costs being the largest items determined by guest count). It also affects desserts, linen, and centerpiece quantities.

Scope:
Scope refers to all the elements you want included in your day, such as videography, multiple photographers, custom photo booths, and daytime shuttles.

Style:
Do you want to spend $25 or $200 per table on centerpieces? Do you want a really elaborate, multi-tiered/multi-flavor cake, or is a small cutting cake and cupcakes just perfect? When you have a brilliant idea, ask yourself, “Is it necessary?” and “Will it make a big difference in your goals for the day?”

Be cautious of low introductory prices that may be listed for a reception venue. You are
not shopping for an empty room; you are shopping for an experience (needing to rent
everything
from tables, chairs, to linen and dishes adds up quickly).

Food/Beverage:
This is often the largest expense you will have for your wedding day. Which is less expensive buffet
vs. plating? Do you want one entrée choice or two? Do you want a ho
sted bar or a cash bar? All
these factors, along with the guest count, will affect your total food and beverage cost.

Eliminate Wedding Venue Surprises: Know What to Ask

Private or Shared?
A private venue is one where your event is the only event taking place. In a shared venue, other activities will be taking place simultaneously. You will have to contend with other people walking by, walking in, their level of noise, or your guests wandering off to another bar.

Dance Floor?
Can you dance anywhere? Do you have to rent one? How large is it? Is it included or extra? Is it big enough for your group?

Do they provide linens, food, beverages, and other services?
If you choose a venue that provides fewer services, you will have more flexibility for style, but generally, everything will cost more.

How long will staff be around?

Do they provide tables, chairs, linens, napkins, china, silverware, glassware, food, soda, alcohol, restroom facilities, security, DJ, coordination, cake cutting and plating, and event staff? Are there extra costs for these?

Wedding Cake Cutting Symbolism: Do's and Don'ts

Cutting the Wedding Cake symbolizes the first accomplishment and mutual commitment to share and to provide for each other.

The cutting of the cake is an essential part of most wedding receptions. Even if you are opting for cupcakes or mini desserts, you likely still will want to have a small one or two tiered cake for cutting. It’s a sweet moment, a great photo opportunity.

DO cut it together. Traditionally, the groom’s right hand is gently placed atop the bride’s right hand. You’ll cut the cake like a triangle slice, be sure to cut all the way through to the bottom.
DON’T smash the cake, either with your hands or one each other’s faces.
