Make Music Upper Perk

Always June 21st,
Make Music Upper Perk celebrates music and community, bringing people together! The first notes drop at 9 a.m. the final ones fade at 10 p.m.

Make Music is an international movement to celebrate the power of local music. Cities, towns, and hamlets all over the world will be making music on June 21st, on the longest day of the year. Since 2013, Make Music Upper Perk has been part of this worldwide celebration. MMUP will take place at over 20 venues in five towns throughout the Upper Perkiomen Valley. All performances are free & open to t

he public! Musicians of all ages and abilities are included, both amateurs and professionals. Everyone is a volunteer: organizers, musicians, site hosts, etc. For more information on how to participate, or to see the program, follow this page -- or go to ValleyArtScene.wordpress.com. Echoes of MMUP 2024 – Robert Creager can be found at several keyboards where he makes music on the regular, but here at MMUP for the first time, he offered his favorites on the grand piano of the Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center. And honestly, have you ever seen a snazzier and more appropriate shirt for a musician??

Echoes of MMUP 2024 – 97 Camry – a new name for some returning musicians who assemble and reassemble in different configurations. MMUP loves to give a stage to the local talent who put their chops together for a great show.

Fall is here, but we can't help looking back nostalgically at all the summer fun we had at this year's Make Music Upper Perk!

MMUP’s wonderful volunteer photographers went all over the Valley, donating their time and talent to make sure that every musician who played on June 21st was photographed. Echoes of MMUP 2024 – Hymn Sing – One of the favorite features of MMUP is the annual hymn sing, where folks who love hymns gather under the big tree on the lawn of St. Mark’s Lutheran. Howie and Marie Holtje lead this sing with devotion, and the participants join in with joy.

Echoes of MMUP 2024 – Ash Chatburn was an MMUP first timer this year, but we hope it won’t be the last time. Ash played at the Thrift Shop and Chibi Café. Keep an eye out: they can also be heard at various open mics in the area.

Echoes of MMUP 2024 – Fran Mayville is an encore musician at MMUP and brought a mix of rock, blues, and country started the morning at Abella Specialties, followed by lunch music at Chiaro’s. If we are lucky he’ll be back again next year.

Echoes of MMUP 2024 – Guitars For Vets - Lebanon, PA is a part of a national organization who puts guitars into the hands of Vets and teaches them to play. But as we all know, making music is about much more than learning to play an instrument. We were glad for the Lebanon chapter to join us in the Upper Perkiomen Valley. Keep making music, Vets!
