Each year, majors from all over the College enroll in a 3-credit transferrable course focusing on readers' theatre. Specifically, the students spend the better part of 12 weeks rehearsing a :50 minute readers' theatre script based on a central theme. Past themes have included television family sitcoms, the quirks of language, civility, believing in one's self, bullying, patriotism, and accepting y
ourself. Each script contains anywhere from 25-40 selections of literature, both modern and traditional, as well as an assortment of music. The show has often been called a "rip-roaring roller coaster ride through literature," as it is a fast-paced, one-of-a-kind type of performance. Once rehearsals have concluded, the cast, consisting of 10-20 students, then board a charter coach bus and tour throughout Central Illinois for one week. Needless to say, the bus ride creates many lifelong memories and lasting friendships.
