A video to honor and remember those who have fallen defending our country.

“The most important person on earth is a mother. She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She need not. She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral — a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby’s body. … The angels have not been blessed with such a grace. They cannot share in God’s creative miracle to bring new saints to heaven. Only a human mother can. Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creature; God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation … What on God’s good earth is more glorious than this; to be a mother?”

Remember your grandmothers? They showed up on doorsteps with casseroles and side dishes and they stood at sinks that weren’t theirs and they washed dishes.

They stood in the gaps.

Remember your momma? The same casserole she made a thousand times in her kitchen? She would let you stir and you would chat and now you know that recipe backwards and forwards. It would sit on your lap in the car - the heat radiating down your legs. She would drop it off on a stoop and come back to the car and -

that was her - standing in a gap.

I need you to remember that we need to do that, too. “Let me know if you need anything,” is not sufficient. Show up. Get your hands dirty.

Stand in a gap.

And if you live far away, send a gift card. Send plates and forks. Send a handwritten note.

If your neighbor is experiencing a loss, or a new neighbor is moving in, or if a neighbor lost a job or a baby or a husband -

stand in the gap.

This is the way.

This is how we walk each other back home.

I'll Meet You There. (repost)
On the days I miss you most
I'll close my eyes and sleep.
I'll meet you in my dreams
in a moment we can keep.

I'll meet you with a hug
and with things I want to say.
I'll meet you under the sun
or a different place each day.

I'll meet you by the river
or back at our old home.
And at the times I cannot find you
In my dreams i shall still roam.

I'll meet you in the coffee shop
or at your favourite place.
I don't care just where it is
as long as I see your face.

I'll meet you at a park
so you can watch the children play.
You can take their laughter
back to heaven every day.

I'll meet you on each birthday
we no longer get to share.
I don't care just where it is
but I'll meet you there.

I'll meet you in the sunshine
or in the pouring rain.
I will walk through any storm
just to see you again.

I will meet you in my thoughts
a million times a day,
along with every memory
I am lucky to replay.

Good advice…

Good advice…

Those who died yesterday, had a plan for this morning...

Those who died this morning, had a plan for tonight...

There were people who were looking forward to seeing them.

But now they won't get that chance.

There were things that wanted to be said.

But now they'll never be heard.

Don't ever take a single thing in life for granted.

Don't ever take the special people in your life who love you for granted.

Because everything can change in a single moment, in the blink of an eye.

Forgive when you need to, apologise when you need to, and love with a full heart.

Because you just never know when you may never have that chance ever again.

~ Mark
