J.T. never quite got over the painful breakup with his ex-girlfriend, Joey. So finding out she moved in next door leaves him with mixed feelings. Joey has moved back to Castle Springs after a six-year absence to renovate the old Bradford place and turn it into a Bed and Breakfast. When she bought the place, she had no idea J.T. O’Connell was building his new home on the adjacent property. But the deal is done and there’s no going back on it now. J.T. and Joey agree to be amicable neighbors and when she needs his help, he’s always the first one there. This could all work out if it wasn’t for the secret that Joey brought back with her. Sometimes forgiveness is too much to ask for. J.T. needs to lean on his tightknit family for support and answers as he tries to cope with Joey being back in his life. But finding the strength to forgive is hard.

A bright light in our Long Island horse community winked out today with the loss of our dear friend, Cindy Laskow, after a long battle with cancer.
Cindy was so many things to so many of us. She was a mentor, an extraordinary trainer, and a friend who could always make you feel better after a not so stellar round in the show ring. Her laughter and pint sized bundle of energy made her students want to keep going forward. Cindy always had an encouraging word and was a force to be reckoned with when quitting seemed to be the easiest path to follow.
She found new friends at the new iteration of Crystal Brook Stables in North Carolina. While she battled the cancer, she took refuge in what she loved best: horses and her students. Her beloved Callie took her to that place where she was the happiest ( along with the “pap boys”, her sweet Pappilon pups). So many miles she travelled with us to shows to cheer on her friends and students. It was that encouragement and her shouts from the rail to “c’mon, gallop!” that allowed her gang to accomplish all that they did. And it was her love that made us want to succeed.
So we say a heartfelt goodbye to you dear Cindy, from all of your friends at Long Island Horse Shows and the Long Island horse world. There will always be a place in our hearts filled with “Cindy love” as we ride on with you on our shoulder.
Rest well, dear friend. Be at peace knowing how many lives you have affected.

On Sunday, although there were over 100 trips in the Main Ring, three horses fell and LIHS and OFF are concerned. Long Island Horse Shows and Old Field Farm, Ltd. take these matters seriously and are deeply committed to safety. Although we all know horse sports come with risk, we want everyone to be as safe as possible and any fall of a rider or horse is always a great concern. There were no visible anomalies in the footing observed as per the members of the staff and course designer, who continuously monitor conditions. No riders or trainers reported any irregularities in the footing either during warm up session or during competition nor did any of the affected riders report an unusual footing condition. The ring was dragged prior to the start of the competition, after schooling and multiple times during the show day. The judge, steward and horse show personnel convened to discuss the matter. The horse show EMT cleared all three riders to return to competition of which two returned to complete successful rounds. Until this can be fully addressed, the Main Ring will be closed for proper analysis and an appropriate solution identified. As one can imagine, this takes time. We thank everyone for their support during this challenging time. Please know Long Island Horse Shows and Old Field Farm Ltd. are actively engaged to address this matter to continue to bring good quality horse shows to Long Island equestrians.
