The Isidore String Quartet is heavily influenced by the Juilliard String Quartet and the idea of “approaching the established as if it were brand new, and the new as if it were firmly established.” The name Isidore pays tribute to the legendary violinist Isidore Cohen of the Juilliard String Quartet. The name also goes back in time to a Greek monk named Isidore who concocted the first genuine vodka recipe for the Grand Duchy of Moscow.

Don’t miss the chance to see these young, dynamic chamber musicians.

Born in 1999, cellist Joshua McClendon began his cello studies at the age of eight under the tutelage of cellist Paul Wingert. In 2018, he entered his undergraduate studies at the Juilliard School where he studied with Professors Richard Aaron and Timothy Eddy. Other important mentors of his have included Joel Krosnick, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Natasha Brofsky,

A founding member of the Isidore String Quartet, Joshua has gained international recognition after winning the First Prize and Haydn Prize at the 2022 Banff International String Quartet Competition. In Spring of 2023, the Isidore Quartet received an Avery Fisher Career Grant, becoming the youngest ensemble in the program’s history to do so. Isidore String Quartet violinist Phoenix Avalon writes,

“We are excited to come to Easton and to bring a program that exemplifies the foundation of the Quartet. The Mozart String Quartet No.19 in C major was revolutionary for its time in a similar way that the Bartók String Quartet No. 2 and the Ravel String Quartet in F major redefined the limits for string quartet writing in their own wonderful and unique ways.”

Time is running out. You won’t want to miss this exciting performance by an award-winning quartet. Buy your tickets today by going to our website at www.chesapeakemusic.org or giving the office a call Monday through Friday at 410-819-0380.
