Attended a wonderful Talbot Arts event last night celebrating our vibrant local arts community. Talbot Arts is one of our most important partners, and we are so grateful for their ongoing support (alongside Maryland State Arts Council)... all also made possible thanks to the inspirational work carried out by Maryland Citizens for the Arts (MCA). Thank you everyone — we love our Arts-loving community!

We are ushering in the “new” this Fall season, and want to introduce you to four people joining the Chesapeake Music Team in new capacities. Kae Dakin (newly elected Chair) and Lisa Connors (newly elected Vice Chair) of the Chesapeake Music Board of Directors are taking over the leadership batons for the organization. Anna Lesher (a senior Graphic Design and Music Composition double major at Susquehanna University) and Sophia Townsend (a recent Art Therapy and Graphic Design graduate of Hood College) are our new Arts Management Interns, helping us establish an exciting new program—the Chesapeake Music Internship & Ambassador Program—that will hopefully put us on the radar of up-and-coming, young arts managers! Everyone is already hard at work on new initiatives and if you haven't already, we hope you have a chance to meet them in person soon!

Our 2025-2026 season opener is just around the corner! Tickets are currently available on our website at https://chesapeakemusic.org/ for the Saturday, September 27th performance when Chesapeake Music hosts The Renaissance Quartet with Pianist Zhu Wang and Violist Catherine Cho. The evening’s program is an exciting one and opens with String Quartet No. 1 in G major by Florence Price (1887–1953), a groundbreaking African American composer and pianist. Very fittingly, The New York Times wrote in 2023 that “a Florence B. Price renaissance is well underway” and “her luminous music is enrapturing audiences worldwide”! To discover more details about the concert, take a look at the concert page on our website: https://chesapeakemusic.org/concerts-and-events/sept-27-renaissance-wang-and-cho/
