Tuesday afternoon we had the great honor of providing a hearty yet vegan chili and gf/DF cornbread lunch for employees of Franklin Sports headquartered right here in Stoughton! We also gave a demo to the participants. Actually, a Franklin employee, Joanne, cooked while I instructed her and spoke to the group. Great company! Great people! Thank you for this opportunity. Let’s do it again sometime!

What says Halloween more than Apple Cider Donuts? I just made these. Yummo!

I've been making this delicious and easy recipe for baked apple cider donuts for years! The secret is to reduce down the apple cider to intesify its flavor.

Happy Halloween!

Monday Papa Mickey brought four year old Mason for a cooking lesson. He made chicken fingers, marinara sauce, and spaghetti. He followed the 3 step breading process perfectly. Great job Mason! He wanted to cook pancakes and French fries. Ah, the requests of a 4 year old! There’s always a next time, buddy.

👻 Not sure what to do with the old children's Halloween costumes haunting your house?

This year, the Ames Free Library is collecting new or gently used Halloween costumes for infants through kids of all ages for our first costume swap!

Donations will be accepted from Monday, September 16 through Wednesday, October 30 in the Children's Room between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

All costumes will be evaluated by a staff member before they are accepted to our Little Free Costume Closet, which will be located in Queset House from Monday, October 7 through Saturday, November 2 from 1:00 PM until closing time.

If mornings work better for your schedule, visit Quest House during one of our post-storytime specials on 10/15, 10/16, and 10/17 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

You are not required to donate in order to take a costume, we simply ask that you only take what you need for this year’s Halloween costume.

The Little Free Costume Closet operates on a first-come, first-served basis and we will not be setting things aside for anyone.

NOTE: We will NOT be accepting old clothes, pajamas, anything dirty or stained, or dance costumes.

Sunday Beth returned for a cooking lesson and brought her friend, Dena. They selected a great menu: tomato bruschetta, beef tenderloin steaks…some basted in butter and herbs, the others with a red wine mushroom cream sauce, broccoli rabe, and finished the meal with chocolate tarts. Fantastic job, ladies! Let’s have some delicious fun again!

Thursday morning Danielle brought daughter Taylor, mom Cheryl, and bestie Lacey to our kitchen. They chose to take a small culinary journey to Greece. They started with tzitzki, chicken souvlaki, Makaronia, and chocolate lava cakes with salted caramel sauce. Outstanding ladies! What fun we all had. Good luck in school and soccer this year, Taylor, and enjoy your trip to Greece! Come and cook with us again!
