Built in 1942, with a Gothic Arch shape roof of ancient timbers and rare yellow glazed tile, this historic barn has been meticulously and lovingly restored. Original materials were used or exposed when and where available to keep the rich history and beauty of its structure. The barnโs authenticity was preserved and complemented with the modern conveniences of heat, air conditioning, new up to date bathrooms, a handicap accessible elevator, Bose surround sound system, AV and theatrical lighting, making Green Acres desirable for events all year round.
Previously the Goodrich-Ramus barn, Green Acres is the oldest standing barn in Eden Prairie and an important part of Minnesota history. In 2009, Hennepin County developed construction plans to widen Pioneer trail and considered demolishing the barn but the City of Eden Prairie and the Historical Society stepped in to save it. After reading an article in the Star Tribune about its demise, Steven Schussler, well-known as the creator of the Rainforest Cafe chain of restaurants, was inspired to restore the barn.
Green Acres Event Center has three wonderful and spacious entertainments spaces to create your most memorable event amongst the crystal and candlelight chandeliers, an extravagant Italian water fountain, antiques, music, color, lighting and much more.
