Happy Birthday Marine Corps.

The Marine Corps is 249 years old having been founded on November 10th 1775. The Corps was originally called the Continental Marines and was established to support the Continental Navy during the American Revolutionary War.

The Corps was abolished after the war due to budget constraints, but congress re-established it on July 11th 1798. It was then named the United States Marine Corps. The Corps birthday was celebrated on July 11th until 1921 when it was moved to November 10th to commemorate the Corps founding.

The Marine Corps is known for its core values of honor, courage and commitment.
