Lessons from Geese — and from Greg

If you’ve ever been part of UCO Musical Theatre, you know the Lessons from Geese poem isn’t just a tradition — it’s a philosophy Greg White has lived and led by for decades.

Like the geese in their “V” formation, Greg has been the one to take the lead when needed, to rotate back so others could shine, and to call from behind with encouragement, grace, and belief in our potential— his version sounding a lot like: “You sound like a million bucks.” He’s taught us that we go farther when we lift one another, that leadership is shared, and that when one of us is struggling, the flock stays close until we can fly again.

For nearly 25 years, Greg has poured his heart into this program — shaping not only performances, but people. Under his guidance, our formation has grown strong, resilient, and full of purpose. Whether in class or the rehearsal room or onstage telling stories — Greg’s career has been a love song to his students, colleagues, and the art form he cherishes.

Greg, you’ve taught us that leadership is about service, artistry is about authenticity, and success is about traveling together. While we are deeply sad to see you step away from your role, we are equally excited to watch your next chapter unfold.

From all of us at UCO Musical Theatre: thank you for leading the way, for lifting us higher, and for the countless lessons along the journey. We will carry them forward as we continue to fly with vision, grace, and heart. This is our song, and it is for you—“one more, one more time!” 💙💛
