As an eco-luxe wedding florist in Seattle, I’m sort of always on a mission to prove that sustainability and luxury do NOT have to be mutually exclusive when it comes to the wedding industry.

Couples who book me for winter weddings have a special place in my heart ❄️

Just because there are little to no flowers available, doesn’t mean that your wedding can’t be everything you dreamed it to be. Here’s tips for your winter wedding:

🌸 Book florals early! If you want a shot at getting fresh, local flowers, we have to let growers know well in advance. Pair lush greenery with seasonal treasures like berries, vines, branches, and other textures.

🕯️Candles are going to be your best friend. Don’t skimp! Use candles of varying height and styles. Pair them with specialty lighting for an extra dose of cozy!

⛅️ Plan for a ceremony on the earlier side. With the sun setting at an ungodly hour, be sure to get the most out of the natural light for photos.

Just a reminder, the bigger the table, the more flowers you can have on it 😏

During a consultation, I need to know 4 basic things about your tables:

1️⃣ Round tables or banquet tables?

2️⃣ Will the meal be plated, buffet, or family style?

3️⃣ Linens: what style, color, and texture are we doing?

4️⃣ Head table or sweetheart table?

The slow season we’ve all been holding out for…

(Slow as in I’m not scrubbing as many buckets and not sweating as much)

This time of year lets me focus on my 2025 couples, connect with new couples, and catch up on all the pesky admin tasks I’ve neglected since March 🫠

And, my boss let me update my Calendly so that I have time to puzzle, hang out with friends and family, and reconnect with nature 🍁

We have the power to make the world a better place. You and me. We don’t need permission from the government to create that.

Twisted Bramble is dedicated to celebrating and affirming ALL love; passionate about honoring, preserving, and protecting our earth; committed to giving back to our community to further cultivate a world of love and safety.

I feel angry and betrayed. I feel sad and scared. I feel tired and triggered. It’s disgusting that people would choose empty promises made by a criminal at the expense of basic human rights (again).

In this community, we lean in rather than turn away. Complacency and apathy have no place here. It’s deeply courageous to feel in times like these.

What is floral foam, and why do we hate it? (Part 3) ⤵️

Did you know that your wedding flowers might actually be harmful to your health?😳

If not, lemme tell you a little something about the thing that I love to hate: floral foam. Ever heard of it?

Aside from being an unrecyclable brick of microplastics, floral foam contains various chemicals and additives, including formaldehyde (a known carcinogen) and phenol. Both of these pose health risks to those they come in contact with, aka florists and hobbyists who may regularly be exposed.

NOT what you want at your wedding, or any event!

Make sure that when you’re hiring your wedding florist, you find somebody who’s intentional about never ever using floral foam that could lead to health issues for you or your guests. I’ll die on this hill.

TL;DR: Floral foam could give you cancer and is killing our planet (and it’s also very easy to be foam free, so just do it!)

I’ll provide resources tomorrow for how to avoid floral foam 🌱

As a seasonal florist, the next best thing to flowers is incorporating natural elements into designs. I loved being able to use driftwood, seashells, and seaweed into this design to highlight the PNW coastal landscape 🪸

And a moment for those shell glasses?? 😍

For other locations and designs, I’ll use moss, mushrooms, berries, vegetables, and any other treasures I find 🐚

L + R got married last year — such a fun venue for an immersive wedding experience for them and their guests 🦬

While they were doing their thing, I was praying, begging, pleading to the flowers to just stay nice for a few more hours in the heat. The flowers and I weren’t made for all this sunshine 🫠
