Event pieces I did for a garden club luncheon. Permanent florals with fresh succulents. Wonderful color palette of lime green with touches of fall.

Did florals for the quinceañera of a friends daughter and sister. It was all done with permanent botanicals. Came out beautiful.

The honor was mine, my Flower Brother Alex Torres. I was able to recreate the wire base you made for your final night piece at this years AIFD symposium. Who knew we’d be saying goodbye to you so soon. Thank you Beth O'Reilly Kazen for asking me to collaborate with you on this final flower goodbye. Alex, your memory will forever be a blessing to me. Rest easy dear friend. 💐🕊️💐

Week 2 at Kern Place Florist was spent learning how to make easel sprays. The task was to create a spray with the same $$$ value, using their choice of flowers and foliages. I taught basic easel design techniques and then let them create. Each one did an amazing job. So proud of their accomplishments!!! The last one is mine.

I have been extremely blessed by Hashem with the ability to teach and do design consultant work. The past 2 Thursdays I did just this. The new owner of Kern Place Florist has asked me to coach her design staff. Back story… I worked at Kern Place Florist for 18 1/2 years, from 1976- mid 1994, until things fizzled. Took the opportunity to set up my own freelance business, Designs by Dov E. The rest is history. Fast forward…Kern Place Florist has a new owner and new location. The first Thursday I taught principles and elements of design and created designs showing how they are used. It was a great learning experience. Here are photos of the designs I created to teach this lesson.

I met my dear friend Alex Torres in the early 2000’s through Texas State Florists Association. He won the Texas Cup in 2005 and the Sylvia Cup representing TSFA the same year. Since those days, our friendship flourished. His passing is just so difficult to comprehend. We shared so many special times that I will cherish forever.

My heart is broken once again. I just learned of the passing of my dear friend and flower brother, Alex Torres. So many years of friendship and flowers. This news has devastated me. We just saw each other in Orlando at AIFD symposium. He was and always will be one of the best!!! May you rest comfortably in the Arms of the Angels and make beautiful heavenly creations my flower brother. I will miss you so much. 💐💔💐
