The November 2024 album of the month is “The Very Best Of Doc Severinsen”.

Carl Hilding "Doc" Severinsen (born July 7, 1927) is an American retired jazz trumpeter who led the NBC Orchestra on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Doc retired from performing on September 1st 2022. If you want to get in the mood, listen to Doc’s rendition of Glenn Miller’s 1939 hit “In The Mood”, or Count Basie’s 1937 hit “One O’clock Jump”.

Johnny Carson is gone but his colorful NBC orchestra leader, Doc Severinsen is alive and well in this album featuring his unmistakable sound. Wonderful arrangements of old standards pay tribute to this era and highlight Doc's amazing talent. Few trumpeters can go as high for as long and with the tonal quality exhibited in this album. Of course, the album closes with “The Tonight Show Theme. If you are a fan of the big brass swing band sound, herrrrrrres Doc.

“Gone Country”!!! ... The October 2024 album of the month is Alan Jackson’s “The Greatest Hits Collection”.

The Greatest Hits Collection is the first compilation album by American country music artist Alan Jackson. Released on October 24, 1995, it includes the greatest hits from his first four studio albums, as well as an album cut from his 1990 debut Here in the Real World and two new tracks — "Tall, Tall Trees" and "I'll Try", both of which were Number One hits for him on the Billboard Hot Country Songs.

The Greatest Hits Collection peaked at #5 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums Chart and #1 on the Top Country Albums Chart, becoming Alan Jackson's third #1 country album. In October 2006, the album was certified 6× Platinum by the RIAA.
